Camping in January???
Normally our 19, the Egg Nest, goes into hibernation in November and doesn't come out until late March or April. Given the weather we've had in Northern California so far, we decided to wake her up and head for the coast, specifically MacKerricher State Park in Fort Bragg, one of our favorite spots. We had blue skies every day, with temps that went from around 40 at night to around 60 in the days. MacKerricher is a great location, and there's a lot to see and do in the Ft. Bragg-Mendocino area.
Even though we've had our 19 for over four years, we continue to be impressed by it. We ran the heater a LOT during our five-night stay, and used less than three gallons of propane for heating, hot water and cooking. Also, by being frugal and using the camp facilities some, we didn't fill either the black or gray tanks.
Tomorrow I put her back to bed, though -- looks like we actually have some stormy weather coming later this week. Yay! The sunset photo was a two-minute walk from our camp.

Nice photos, Bruce. I'm a sucker for those rays-of-sunlight images, and it's a great effect with the sparkling white Tacoma and Escape.

Thanks for your report! Yes, it is nice to start the camping season early!
The brochure for the park makes MacKerricher State Park sound interesting:

Wow, a 2009 19'!! You have one of the early editions, any major differences that you are aware of?

If you have the opportunity, go for it. Good to hear you got out, Bruce.

MacKerricher SP is lovely! We were there a few years ago. Glad you had great weather - and really glad for the rain forecast!

As far as model year differences in 19's, I think they've all been gradual improvements. I like where the converter's been moved, and I know they're insulating better now. I'm gradually doing the under cabinet reflectix insulation where I can, this winter I'll tackle the rearmost area under the bed. I'm still very happy with mine as is, though.
And Jane M. -- we hope to get back down to Morro Bay this spring. That's another of our favorite State Parks.

MacKerricher SP, nice photos. I've somehow never camped there, having been to Van Damme and from habit never gone the extra bit north.
One thing about winter camping in that area, the coastal fog is usually absent in the winter (as long as it isn't raining!)
