Camping While Visiting ETI late Feb

We are planning a trip to ETI for a couple of days late Feb in order to finalize our options on a new 21. We will be taking our 17 ft Casita from Texas across the southern route and up through Calif. We have several options and would like opinions on them.
First would be to tow the Casita to Chilliwack and camp in a local campground. I read that Tammy will recommend some which give ETI customers a discount.
The second would be to camp in the Lynden KOA and drive across into Canada each day.
The third is to leave the Casita in Eugene OR where my brother lives, drive up to Chilliwack and stay in a hotel while we are there.

Cultus Lake, which is less than 20 minutes from ETI has several Provincial campgrounds which are beautiful. And, at that time of year won't have many occupants. Other than that, I'd defer to the folks at ETI.

Not much difference between towing the trailer from Eugene or not. It's still a day's drive. Personally I like my own bed and space where possible so my choice would be to bring the trailer with me.

With our dollar the way it is, , it'd probably be cheaper and more convenient to get a Canadian campsite.

We stayed at Cottonwood Meadows RV Park. It's definitely not one to write home about BUT it's almost walking distance to ETI - not quite, but almost. So for convenience it is very good. As another point, we found it extremely valuable to go up there and sit with Sarah to go over our build sheet - good move on your part to make the trip.

You might just plan on not planning. If it is pouring rain, leave the trailer behind and stay in the hotel. If it is nice, take the trailer. Once you are in Eugene, though, barring snow or ice, which are uncommon, you've passed the worst areas for inclement weather and only have to deal with traffic.

ETI recommended and we received a discount if you mention them while at the Best Western Hotel located 100 yards from Escape Industries in Chilliwack. Complimentary breakfast, discount on dinner, and pet friendly, plus with the exchange rate not that more than a KOA. BTW there is a Tim Hortons located next door to the hotel also.

I don't think any of the options is better or worse than the other, just pick the one that works best for you.

Whatever you do, you really only need to allow a good part of a day at Escape. Set up an appointment too, just in case.....

Camping While Visiting ETI late Feb

Camping in this area in February is rarely pleasant. Rain and more rain! We sometimes even get a bit of snow in February. I would suggest staying in a motel OR if you can afford it stay at Harrison Hotsprings Hotel, about 25 minutes away in a beautiful location on Harrison Lake. Great pools for soaking or swimming, a good restaurant (a bit over priced) with dance band. We sometimes take our family there for a special occasion. And the town is quaint.

The Lynden KOA is nice but the restrooms are closed in the winter. We have also stayed at The Cedars in Ferndale - near I-5 and not too far from the border. It was fine and I believe they are open all year. Cultus Lake looks lovely but it is closed in February.
Birch Bay State Park is beautiful and it's about 50 miles (easy drive) from Chilliwack. Birch Bay State Park | Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission
Good luck, have fun.

We'll be in Chilliwack the 2/21-24. We chose to reserve a place on AirBnB. The cost is the same as the discounted Best Western rate, but we'll be in a scenic area about 15 minutes from ETI.

Maybe we'll see you there

Camping While Visiting ETI late Feb

At that time of year there isn't much sun and even the scenic areas around Chilliwack are rather drab. By April the foliage is back and it is once more scenic. I hope you at least get some sun. I just don't want you to be disappointed.

Bob,

It's ask good! The scenery looking for is the 5.0 TA Rev 2 (which I like to call the 5.2 TA). The rest is just a bonus. I'll just have come from Quartzsite; not much foliage there either, but plenty of scenery.

Thanks for all the info

Thanks for all the great information. I think we will decide if we pull the trailer on up to Chilliwack based on the weather forecast when we're in Eugene.

BTW, we'll also be going through Quartzsite on our way. We've not been there, so would like to see what it's like. I expect we will spend 2 or 3 days there in early Feb. We're planning on camping at Dome Rock, because I heard that's where the fiberglass trailers are.

Oh, who let the secret out? This was early before it really started to fill with f.g. trailers of all shapes and sizes. Lot's of other types also but the Dome Rock area had a high concentration of f.g. due to the Casita and Escape participants.
