When I toured Alf & Mary Anne's trailer I looked in that cupboard and I noticed
that the negativity jar was empty. He said he ran out when he retired.

Necessity being the mother of invention made sure that there was communication long before tapatalk. Alf and I often PM each other using fire, green twigs and a blanket. We learned smoke signals from Sitting bull, Chief Joseph and Squanto. when we were kids. We can communicate over the border without roaming charges

Hi: Iowa Dave... Using "Smoke signals" means it's really hard to get our signals crossed. Puff Puff!!! When I was a kid I burnt a hole in my blanket... Alf

Vancouver probably, Iowa, not so much. The only place I could find rhubarb today was in the dictionary.

Americans increasingly blocked at Canadian border

I was going to start a new thread, but I guess it fits here. I saw this on the BBC's website:

Americans are increasingly blocked at Canada border - report - BBC News

Yeah, I know it's sort of:

but has anyone had any problems lately? The info is good to know in any case.

I was going to suggest taking "Canadian" out of the thread title. Nothing specific about what the Canadians at the border are doing. It's a two way street in that dept. Sort of sad when you remember how much of a non-event crossing the border used to be.

I have never had a hassle going either way with the exception of not having birth certificates for our kids once, now over 20 years ago. Even back when my hair was real long, they always whisked me through. Must be my kind face.

Crossing the border is sort of similar to gambling. The more times you do it, the more the odds are that sooner or later you'll have a bad day. Unfortunately, rules aside, it's the human variable that can make or break the crossing experience. There are times when I cross 2 or 3 times a week and despite that familiarity I'm always aware of the human variable that can turn a routine crossing into a slightly negative experience.

Hi: Jim Bennett... With your "Billiard ball" image there's just something sinister looking about you. Be careful crossing the border!!!

We have never encountered more than a slight delay crossing the border in either direction. One time the US Customs did X ray our boat and vehicle , but not because they were hassling us but because they got a new X ray machine and wanted to try it out , at least according to the border agent. There does seem to be some racial profiling on both sides of the border recently. I have friends who are black , Hispanic or Middle Eastern ( All US citizens ) and have been subject to numerous delays and full vehicle searches , where we have not.
Maybe just a coincidence but it seems a little obvious.
I don't blame the border agents , they aren't setting the standards
