Farmer's Markets

We will be doing some extensive travel in our new Escape 21. We would like to buy from farmer's markets most of the time. Are there any apps that people use to locate them? By the way, we are Android, so we will be looking for compatible apps.

Just use Google Maps. Search "Farmer markets".

Don’t know where you travel but I can tell you the best market I ever went to was in the center of Salt Lake City in a big park on Saturday mornings. Second best was in the tiny town of Grangeville Idaho where I bought a bag of apricots which were so good that when I looked down at my feet later in the day, I had no socks. The apricots had knocked them off!

As farmers who sell at a farmers market we always look to visit as many as possibly on our travels. If we are staying in an area for more than a "night on the road" then we google where we are staying and towns on our next day's route. This has led us to some really neat ones in the past. Almost all are open on Saturday but more and more of them are open another day or two sometime during the week. After reading your question I did a quick search for Apps and found several, but we have no experience with them. May try some next year when we get back on the road.
Thanks for your question and thanks for supporting local farmers!

there are excellent farmers market in nearly every coastal town in central/northern California. most are only open 1 day a week, around here (Santa Cruz) there's 4-5 at different nearby locations, on different days, often the same vendors travel to all of them. the local organizers only allow actual farmers selling their own products, so you don't get booths selling 2nd rate supermarket rejects.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is the coordinating agency for the 200 farmers markets in Iowa. On their website they have a map and by touching the pin point the name, address, operating times and location of each market is shown.
At one time I managed our city’s two Farmers markets for 6 years and coordinated the WIC program with recipients and the vendors. We had promotional events etc. Things have changed in the past 3 decades and markets in Cedar Rapids are operated differently now but continue to provide great nutrition and local vibrancy to the truck farmer economy in our area. If you’re in Iowa it’s easy to find a farmers market in the summer.

We have run a small organic farm in East Texas for a few years. The past two summers have been far too hot for it to be productive. Tomatoes would not set, and we just could not pour enough water on to keep it going. We have decided to go full time RV after we pick up out new Escape 21. We prefer to shop farmer's markets to support local farmers and to get better quality produce.
