Gorgeous photos of the scenery and wildlife there, Gabi. Thanks for posting them. It has been at least 20 years since I have been there, and we used to go all the time.

I love that park, but the wind sure can be a bear. I got caught in a canoe when it was calm one minute, then blasted the next. We just braced and let the wind take us where it wanted until it subsided a bit.

What a truly spectacular place. And I think that buffalo has his own valet and groomer.

We stopped at Glacier on our way home from Osoyoos. The first time we were ever there when it wasn't a destination. Stayed in Apgar, one of only a couple open. If the park's glaciers fascinate you, don't miss any opportunity to see them. The prediction is that they will be gone in the next 20 years. But there's no Global warming.

Alf, I'd like visit in the Fall sometime after the crowds
go down somewhat and take the red bus ride.
Every time I've been over the Going to the Sun, I've
been the driver and you can't do much rubbernecking.
I'd like to spend a few crisp mornings when the Elk are bugling, see the first
snow in the high country and sneak out just before big weather. Asking too much?

On that road, the driver shouldn't do ANY rubbernecking and keep their eyes on the road.

Once in a while traffic stops for construction, road repair, or congestion. You get to look around till traffic gets moving again. I've never messed up and driven off the shoulder = dead
I'm well over 2 million road miles and just a pup compared to professional drivers.

It's actually been over 30 yrs for us ....and we are so close . We too had been quite often ,that's likely why . We were there when Mount St.Helen blew and ash was everywhere when we woke that morning . We had been planning for the last few yrs to return , but stuff got in the way . The townsite has really changed , very nice now . There is a lot of construction this year , our plan was just for last week and go back come fall . However with all the construction ( some areas closed ) think we'll go next year - fall we like best . That climb up the "Bear"s Hump" although kind of steep really is a must .

Alf - you really got nice ones of that lake .... yes you do need to go back and climb that " Bear's Hump " it starts right behind the tourist info ....so worth while ...all the aerial type photos of Waterton and that Prince Of Wales Hotel that one sees in commercial thingees would be from there . Also you need to come back and climb up to the Whistler's summit in Jasper ....I'm very sure you neglected that too :finger wag:.......
