Lake Ontario

For those that haven't seen one of the Great Lakes in a winter storm, I thought I'd post a couple of today's photos - 50 - 60 MPH winds.

Cool photos. Lighthouse looks to be a scary place to hang out during a storm.

Not any more. Back in the "Olden Days" of the '70s, the lake would often freeze out as far as one could see. Waves would break up the ice & pile it on the shore, new waves would freeze on the piles, and eventually build 20' - 30' high ice mountains on the shore. We still get some of that on a much smaller scale - here is a photo from 2004. Without being political, there is no better place to see the effect of global warming - We haven't see this kind of ice in the last 4-5 years, and the lake hasn't frozen out of sight since the '70s...

Now that's the way I remember it. I know the weather has been messed up lately. Heck it was + 8c in Whitehorse a few days ago.
