Severinus, your patience is amazing. It'll be all the more sweet when you finally get to camp in it.

Thanks for the update, Seef. I wouldn't have guess Knott as the axle manufacturer... usually those look more like a Dexter, but it turns out that's the smaller sizes. This one - presumably 1500 kg capacity - has a unique appearance... and the brackets don't have the side-mounting holes that the Escape brackets are designed to match.

Since the axle has a different bolt pattern (from the Knott catalog it looks like 5 on 112mm instead of 5 on 4.5"/114.3mm) different wheels were required. Are the original tires supplied by ETI (presumably ST205/75R15) still used, and if not what size did you get?

I do not know the exact bolt pattern but you're right, the original wheels won't fit, nor will the tires do.

Knott uses a different bolt pattern so we needed new wheels, in order to keep the same wheel hight we ended up using 14" wheels. At the moment we have standard steel wheels, still thinking about replacing them with these alloy ones.

What do you guys think of those rims?

Have fun!

I checked the axle specs and it turns out this axle can handle 1800 Kg, which should be more then sufficient for the 5.0.

Have fun!

Congratulations Seef. If you ever take your trailer down to Staverden, take a picture and post it. My wife's cousin (neef) owns the joint. It would look good on the Escape calendar. If anyone asks you where they can get a classic 5.0 (and they will) tell them we have a nice 2010 5.0 for sale. I'll even throw in the standard $200 (make that Euro) finders fee.(lol)

I like them. They look like the wheels on alot of European cars, like Audis and VWs.

Yeah Seef, a goo photo of your trailer in front of something obviously European, would certainly be an interesting compliment to the calendar.

What an amazing story so far. Mary and I spent some time in your beautiful country in 1991 - visiting friends who lived in Amsterdam and biking around.

Congratulations on the safe arrival and axle install. I hope everything goes very smoothly for you with the electrical modifications.

Hi Mark & Gerri,

you mean this place? Landgoed Staverden, een unieke belevenis - Beleef Staverden

I'll keep the 2010 in mind, who knows we can sell it for you when we're on the road.
