Amstel Bier, but hearing about the "Great Escape" tempts me to change beer brand.
Have fun!

What model Dometic refer do you have, the 4.3 or the 6.7?? That display is unfamiliar to the 6.7 owners.

Seef, there's no rush, but do you have a photo of the towball and how it is mounted onto the Escape pin box?

I really like how that attachment method leaves an essentially flat bed in the truck.

Absolutely fascinating. I've seen many vehicular projects in my time, but this international project is not only a major undertaking, but also a passionate labor of love. Once complete, you'll be having the time of your life and making memories of a lifetime.
Congrats Seef! Someday I'd love to make it to Europe and Amsterdam someday. I understand they have some great cancer "therapy". :

It's a 6.7CU according to Escape (RM8555).
Have fun!

Well, we're in Tuscany right now. We had our first 1700Km of towing with the all new Escape 5.0 and TV.
That wasn't a bad experience at all.
We managed to get the rig from the Netherlands via Germany and Switserland to Italy and Tuscany in 2 days, that's a 1500 Km drive in 2 days.
The TV performed great and so did the 5.0.
Arriving at Tuscany it was time to switch everything on and it work just as expected/hoped.
Our 110/220V conversion did what it was supposed to do, the fridge works fine, i had to replace the Propane hose for the standard Dutch propane connection but it did the job.
We are enjoying the and getting a lot of attention on every campsite. Today we are on a typical Italian campsite and had a challenge to get the 5.0 parked at all but we managed.
Anyhow, lateron we will get you a more detailed report, for now greetings from Tuscany from the only 5.0 on the European mainland.
Have fun!
Severinus and Yvonne

Severinus, I'd love to see some photos of your 5er with Tuscany as a backdrop. Maybe post some when you get back?

Well, we're back!
Maidentrip of 3500Km from leeuwarden to Cecina (Tuscany) to Deiva Marine (Cinqe terra) via Herbolzheim (Germany) and Helden (The Netherlands) we made it home to Leeuwarden.
We, the TV and the Escape survived it all!
just some short comments on pro's and con's.
PRO;
great TRAILER!
GREAT BED
very nice round seat dinette
nice stove and range hood
good ventilation
Did i mention the great bed already?
The fridge worked like a charm! (was worried a bit about that).
CON:
uhhhhhhh, well one thing, the trailer bucked a lot. On the way back we stopped at the shop that replaced the axle and agreed that he will research it during winter time. The thing we came up for now is that it is probably a combination of a slightly more stiffer axle, slightly smaller tires and the changing if the coupler. It is likely we need to make the frame a bit more stiff.
Later on we will post some pictures, spoiler alert, unfortunately no nice picsa with a typical Tuscany background.
For now, time to go to bed.....
Have fun!
Severinus and Yvonne

Hi: Seef... WELCOME BACK!!! The bucking issue could be a bit of weight distribution problems. Before doing anything major try either more pin weight (Frontal), or more water in the fresh tank (Rearward). Also make sure the tire pressure is almost at the MAX for the tires too. Those adjustments are cheaper!!! Alf

Hi Seef. I see that Knott Axles make a chassis damper (called shock absorbers over here). You might want to check into that. I think that would be a good option.

The 5.0 is not very long for its height, so bucking is a potential issue.
I agree that dampers would help. Since the Knott damper brackets (see page 43 of their catalog) are welded to the trailing arms of the suspension (axle), installing these would have been more convenient before axle installation, but it should still be possible. (AL-KO has a slick clip-on bracket).
I wouldn't assume that maximum tire inflation would be better, and I would check with the tire manufacturer for inflation recommendations. They may not take the same "users too stupid to understand so just tell them to inflate to maximum" approach as some companies selling "trailer tires" here.
Some people use rubber-cushioned or air-cushioned hitch hardware for fifth-wheel and similar ball-hitch trailers. For Seef, this couldn't be done on the truck side (assuming the use of that flush-mounted socket in the truck bed), but something might be possible with the hardware on the trailer (the original pinbox or whatever might have replaced it).
Bucking is likely an interaction of the truck and trailer, so stiffer damping or stiffer springing of the truck's rear suspension may help.
