Let the fun begin!

Today we received word from Reace he finished loading our 5.0 Classic in the shipping container.

So the first trip of our 5.0 has officially started!

The trip from Vancouver to Rotterdam will take 36 days, after which we need a few days to get it shipped to Harlingen (again by container), the last leg of the homecoming journey will be done by trailer. After which the fun really starts, getting it legalized.

We will keep you posted on the progress of the journey, for now you'll find some pictures of the 5.0 interior (with the upgrades) and before, during and after loading pictures.

Have fun guys, we know we will!

Kind regards,

Severinus and Yvonne

And after loading, how about a tight fit....

And nicely secured. Yep, those things in front of the trailer are the aluminium wheels.

Ohoh. Looks like you might have to move the license plate holder to the right to accommodate European style plate. Can't think of everything.

Good catch, we actually have 2 different types of standard license plates, rectangular ones and square onces.
There's another option, there is a special license plate available for imported american cars, they often have no space for the standard dutch license plates.

So i think i will send Yvonne to the DMV and let her ask the very nice DMV mister if we can have the american style plates.

Will let you know if Yvonne's mission was a succes or a failure.

Regards,

Severinus and Yvonne

Could be worse. Could be General Motors coming out with a sports car that looks really stupid with a front license plate, which is required in many jurisdictions. Maybe that's what killed Pontiac.

COOL BEANS! Looks like they're loading the trailer into the container at ETI.

You'll be getting your new 5er at about the same time I will. Isn't it exciting!

You should have sent a unlocked iPhone to leave inside, that way you use track via GPS the unit. I hope there is some protection along the side walls in case of weather related rocking of the unit while on board.

No Phone needed, i know the ships name and you can track the ship via the internet, as soon as it is loaded i will share that info with you.

There's no extra protection between the Escape and the container walls. Since Reace did do this ofter (sending an escape 5.0 inside a container), i'm guessing he knows what he's doing.

Have fun!

Hi Guys,

just a quick update, the container has been loaded and it's on its way to our home.

The vessel it got loaded on is currently docked at San Francisco.

We'll keep you guys posted during it's trip.

Have fun!

I bet not that many travel trailers get to hatch in British Columbia, pass under the Golden Gate Bridge and navigate the Port of Rotterdam.
