During the first two weeks in May we plan to explore Olympic National Park in our new 17B. Few if any federal campgrounds, including the popular Kalaloch campground, accept reservations this early in the season. I would like to know if anyone has experienced camping in Olympic National Park in the Spring and whether you found RV sites available. Thank you.
Yes. I was there in mid-April in 2014. Mora campground in the north part of the park was almost deserted, and later I was able to find a spot in Kalaloch. Early May might be more of a challenge for Kalaloch, but I'd think Mora would be available.

We visited Olympic National Park two years ago in June and stayed at South Beach for five days without a reservation. It's dry camping which is what we prefer. We'll choose South Beach over Kalaloch any time for the open skies. Expect to be back there in early June this year.
