The wet behind the ears Deputy driving a pickup did take me 5 miles back to the inspection station where two young females with clipboards took my name address but did not inspect the kayak at all.

Everything? "Hey, stop where you are!"

(Edit: actually, I know a float plane pilot, and they have a protocol)

U got that right. That book is still banned in many places. Too "controversial" to say some aren't as bright as others...

RV. Amphibious

I'd like to see one of those " locking through" on the Mississippi. I've ridden on the DWKs in the Wisconsin Dells years ago, affectionately known as The Ducks. Looks like we've had a fairly long term fascination with amphibious vehicles. Oh well, just more words on the signs.

They might have a bit of trouble cleaning and inspecting if taking off from one lake and landing in another. Kinda hard to do when in flight.

But easy enough to do just before takeoff, minimizing the quantity of contamination. There are more details in those protocols, such the ones from Minnesota, Ontario, and Alaska... which look very similar, presumably because they are describing a consistent practice.

It would be easy to clear any plants, but cleaning stuff like mussels off the underside of the floats would be a bit of a pain. I guess do what you can to minimise the risk.
