Osoyoos Bound

Which is the preferred route from Spokane, Wa, routes 2/24 to 97 north or route 395 to Crowsnest Highway and then west? Which port of entry is open 24/7 or are all of them open? Thanks

Drive

Jim,
395 is the shortest route to Osoyoos. I wouldn't worry about trying to drive over to 97. Either route is however comparable. If you want to just have some scenery it would be your choice and neither route is much different than the other.

Jim,
Looks like 24/7 to me. I think your plan is well reasoned. It's something I think I would do.

Option is to go through Nighthawk, which I think is open 8am to 4pm, and doesn't appear to be operational when you sit at the open gate and there doesn't appear to be anybody around, and you wait, and wonder what to do.
I think the customs agent was inside playing pong on his computer.

Lots of choices #395 North to Cascade B.C.turning West or #25 a bit to far East. But then.#21 North West looks like fun with a side shoot to Ferry Wash.. Nice back country in that area. A little slower with a tow .

For what it's worth we live in Spokane and go up 97 to Osoyoos - by going west on Highway 2 we avoid the congestion on the north side of Spokane.

Jim- our traffic jams are fairly anemic compared to the Seattle variety. One of the joys of living here is a 6 minute commute to work!

Just got back from my dealer, got my oil changed and they checked my 5 year old tires, they look brand new, inside and outside. Although I only have 20K miles it has been all towing, so they suggested 5/50 service for severe driving, meaning a radiator flush/fill, rear end flush/fill, brake fluid flush and fill. Transmission fluid looks new. My lifetime factory warranty requires a 5 year inspection to maintain warranty service.
So, I'm good for another 5 years, hopefully. The brakes really feel better, almost new like.

Thinking of going north from Idaho up to Glacier and then taking US#2 west to Port Hill, Idaho and cross border up to Creston and head west to Osoyoos on Crowsnest Highway. There are 3-4 gas stations listed on map quest, Castlegear,Christina Lake,Grandforks, and Salmo? I figure I'll have to stop at least once to fill up while on the Crowsnest. Does anyone know if these gas stations open during normal daytime hours? Thanking in advance for any help.

They will be open and Castlegar and Grandforks will have a half dozen to choose from. Not Alaska.
