Our fall trip to Jasper , Radium and Banff

After enjoying a rally in Rosebud Alberta our drive to Jasper started out with a rainbow but turned into heavy rain , not letting up until we arrived at Whistlers Campground . Luckily the weather improved although still cloudy no more rain .
Love taking the boat tour of Maligne Lake , it is breathtaking .

Our " Landlord and his Harem" really kept us on our toes at our Whistlers campsite , nearly jumped out of my skin a couple of times - woke up one morning ,sat up in bed and peaked out the window only to have a cow looking at me ....... We rode the tram up Whistlers Mountain and hiked to the summit . It had some snow so was pretty icy , not the best day for it . The views are worth it -there is nothing quite like that "on top of the world " feeling . Stopped off at Athabasca Falls on the way to Radium .

After Radium comes Banff - the weather was so nice we decided to hike up to the Lake Agnus Tea House , starting point is Lake Louise ....then Mirror Lake... the water fall just below the tea house ...and then the spectacular Lake Agnus which is so clear one would not know where the water starts but for the reflection ... Tea and cookies on the veranda of the tea house - delicious !

Great pics. Jasper is definitely my favourite of the Canadian mountain national parks.

Really fantastic photos! Wish we were still there. Fall must be the best time. We had the crowds. That Mirror Lake is awesome.

This is inspiring -- we were in Banff and Radium in the summer with the crowds -- beautiful but sometimes we were tripping over people. It's a reminder of why we need to retire and be able to camp in the "off" seasons.

? I'm curious about when you took this trip? The reason I ask is I'm trying to figure out how late in the Fall we can attempt a similar trip without risking roads with snow/ice. (I'm planning/hoping to retire next year)

Those pictures are truly awesome!

So glad folks like the photos , some are just iPad - thanks love to share ( and view others) .
On this trip we left Sept .17 but did not go to Jasper till Sept . 20. Jasper was a little cooler than the last time - appr. the same time of year . We have taken that hot spring circle route as late as after Thanksgiving in years past . Highway 1 is generally good we just watch for weather reports - especially for south of Revy and the Coquahalla ... have gone to the island in late Sept . - weather is less of an issue than in early spring ( aside from Van. rain) . Love fall travel .

Were the squirrels still wanting to get into your pockets at the tea house?

I sent my husband the link to this thread and said "this is one of the reasons I want to get a trailer". He agreed. He's been to some of these places. He wants to go back. I agreed.

Nice pictures G&W,
Whom ever took those has some artistic or photography talent. Nature is more amazing when viewed through these pictures. You guys are busy, between this and the rally it is good to see....
stay warm.
