Well, Alan can fill pages; I'm very rusty.

I saw a couple of RVs with antennas like this at a hamfest in Georgia, but I didn't take a close look at them. In addition to the vertical element they had ground radials, which are wires laid out on the ground in a spoke pattern like bicycle spokes. I'm betting this particular rig didn't have those, given its location.

There are approximately 6 Gazillion types of Ham Radio antennas. Each Ham is required to own 8 or 10 at a minimum.

Its Gouldings in Monument Valley, Bob. The tree in the photo is obstructing it but the main part of MV is straight ahead between the rocks.

Well Mike, as it turns out, that wasn't an HF antenna. It has a label on it that says "20 foot telescoping fiberglass kite pole."
