Riding Mountain NP, Manitoba

There were these birds, not the kind of gull we usually see, if that is what it is, in Riding Mountain National Park.

Riding Mountain NP has a town contained within called Wasagaming. (pronounced "e" at the end, I believe, instead of "ing.")

Riding Mountain is close to the Yellowhead Highway, so it looks handy and a nice stop for anyone coming through Manitoba from central Saskatchewan or "northern" (meaning Edmonton) Alberta. The idea of anywhere in Manitoba being called anything "Mountain" is amusing.

It's certainly a gull. I'd have to break out a birding guide book to say which kind... the difference can be small details, and juveniles often mess up identification by not matching any of the adult patterns.

Wow, there are houses with less property and isolation from the neighbors.

There's a Street View image in Google Maps which was taken when the leaves were off the trees, and shows these campsites. Nice place!
