Thanks Jim
I've done a few of them, for the most part, didn't know they were official Road Trips though. For us they work great for the outbound trip, usually just want the drive over by the time we get around to heading home.

Interesting. I browsed the one I've done- Pacific Coast- and the description is inaccurate as it does not stay within sight of the ocean (or even near it) all the way, especially the major section south of Eureka that has no coast road. Which makes me skeptical of some of the others. If Highway 2 actually goes through, that would be a fun route to try.

I've taken US 2 a couple of times (along with most of the roads listed) and it is my favorite way to cross the US except in winter. A mix of 2 / 4 lane road going through many small towns. In Washington states you get to choose to continue on US2 or take WA 20 through the Cascades. Both beautiful drives. At the east end, I usually cross into Canada and go around the top of the Great Lakes to avoid Chicago.

That beloved, storied, road, Route 66, goes right through my town here in NM, paralleling I-40 ...but it disappears east of Moriarity because, when they built the interstate they blocked off the old original Rt 66 there, and... now many parts of I-40 are also called Route 66. I'm certain this is the case in many remote areas, from here to wherever. Through Albuquerque Central Avenue is also the original Route 66 road.

Road Trips....
Some years ago my wife gave me the hard-copy book version of Road Trip USA. At that time it was just a book of dreams. About two years later we decided to retire and hit the road for a year of adventures and exploration. That book was one of our Go To’s for interesting places to see and blow by blow tips for some excellent, unrushed, travels off the beaten path, which is our jam. It’s not an End All, Be All by any means, but we always have it on hand when out and about.
Our “road library” back in the 17B:

The Great River Road trip is in my future. I've been on the part in Wisconsin, and that at least is very scenic, worth exploring.
