Saskatchewan

We are leaving in about 30 days for a trip to Saskatchewan to visit our Canadian relatives (my sister-in-law and family). We will be flying in and out of Saskatoon and will be primarily chauffeured around by family so won't have many options for exploring on our own but wanted to ask if there's anything we shouldn't miss while there (this is my first time there)?

For the most part, we will be in the Saskatoon and Prince Albert areas. Thanks!

Take in the Western Development Museum, we enjoyed it when we lived in Saskatoon from 78-81 and I'm sure it's been expanded since. If you're getting up to PA see if you can go further to Prince Albert National Park.

I think there are wild, free roaming bison in Prince Albert National Park. Almost every weekend, there is some sort of summer event in Saskatoon, nice cultural centre there as well.

I'm sure your sister will have lots of ideas. The classics:

Batoche National Historic Site

Prince Albert National Park
https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/sk/princealbert
Our favourite easy walk is the Boundary Bog with carnivorous plants. We also saw our first Escape in PANP, thanks!

Lots of good restaurants in Saskatoon. Some fun shopping and browsing streets on 20th and Broadway. River Cruise on Prairie Lily. Wanuskewin Heritage Park.

Handy people are the Karpans
Great Saskatchewan Bucket List is good book for exploring. If you can buy it before you get here, you can plot out some things. Or Sister could check out from library if she doesn't have it?

Parkland Publishing book: The Great Saskatchewan Bucket List by Robin and Arlene Karpan of Saskatchewan, Canada.

Have fun.

We have returned and just a followup post to wrap up our trip. We ended up not doing any of the suggested activities (thanks to all who made suggestions, tho!) since the weather was not very good and we were mostly visiting family.

I did get an opportunity to help my brother-in-law move some bales of hay on their 65 acre farm near Prince Albert so here are some photos of that:
