Thanks for all the great responses. Looks like Sept might be pushing it. I wouldn't like it if I got caught in a snow storm.

Thanks,

Jamie Hubbs. He said, in January when snow was above his home roof the idea of spending a couple of weeks on the sunny southern Oregon coast always sounded heavenly.

People don't normally retire and move north.
I think there is a certain amount of acclimation involved, Northerners do seem to suffer quite a bit during their first couple of summers down here, just as we suffer when having to face temperatures in the 30s and 40s. At the hottest, we still enjoy sitting outside, (in the shade, of course), drink in hand, and wonder how anyone would trade it for shoveling snow, slush, and frostbite. We've also noticed that old people, (like us), do seem to suffer from the cold and enjoy the heat more than youngsters do; and that overweight people seem to suffer from the heat and enjoy the cold more than thin people.

Yellowknife in summer. A nice drive is up the Forestry Trunk Rd through Grande Cache to Grande Prairie, up or back the #97 and the Pine Pass is a good drive. A baseball bat and Bowie knife is required to knock the mosquitoes down than you can cut their throats, just kidding, great trip..have fun.
