Yes, that was us. We had expected that mid week after labour day Fort Casey State Park would not be full, but when we checked reservations about a week ago there was only one 4 day slot open, so we grabbed it. Lots of fisherman there at this time of year. Fort Casey is a good spot for exploring Whidbey Island and Port Townsend. There are few hookups, but this is of little concern if you have a solar panel as we do. In contrast, Deception Pass State Park had lots of available spots, but it is not as well suited for seeing the island. The nice thing about the state parks in northern Washington is that it does not take long to get there from Vancouver and there are lots of services and shopping available. We have been to Bay View, Deception Pass, Fort Ebey, Fort Casey and they are all good state parks. We have Nexus passes, US credit cards, US cell phone, so an easy move for us to go there.

About the photos

Kate, Karen, Anna-Marie, Gabi + Wolf:

Thank you for the comments about the photos.

Here are my secrets:
  • Take lots of photos -- I took 200 and posted 20
  • Go to scenic places with lots of beautiful things to see
  • Open you eyes and look for beautiful and unusual things
  • Take advantage of good light -- early morning around sunrise and evening around sunset are the best times
  • Invest in decent equipment -- good digital cameras are not expensive -- you don't need to get everything at once
  • Be prepared to learn new things -- photography is a great opportunity for stretching your mind

Brian, thanks for the Whidbey Island news and photos. We are camping there next week after picking up our new 17B!

Brian, this is excellent. I'll keep this in mind when we travel.
