Not mine, but if you’re still in Beatty, be sure to get some chilli at the Happy Burro. Good stuff .

I was going to suggest a side trip to see Scotty's Castle but I see now that it has been flood damaged and closed for repairs. Very interesting place and history about it.

Not only Scotty's Castle, but some of the campgrounds may still be closed. I usually stay at Texas Springs Campground, a no generator dry campground uphill from Furnace Creek. At the end of October, both Texas Springs & Sunset were closed. Different rangers gave different reasons - not enough staff due to poor scheduling, budget problems, etc. They said both campgrounds may open later in the season.

Guess what, the day I arrived Texas spring opened. I was 3rd in line. Got the primo site (106). Drove Titus canyon beautiful but treacherous. Glad I had my 4Runner. Today to Dante’s view. WOW! Even had a friendly chukar in the parking lot.
