Spring nog
Trying to decide which route to take to the nog. Drive through Kelso then down along the river then cut through the mountains very direct route but some areas are very narrow and twisty or go around through Portland longer but easy not as pretty.

You could try Hwy 30 south to Cornelius Pass Road to Hwy 26 westbound and avoid Portland traffic.

Hwy 47 between Clatskanie and Vernonia is very twisty. I'm not sure you'd really see much as you have to keep your eyes on the road.

It's a nice road... but really parts are a freeway due to speed. But you'll need to figure out how to get over to hwy 26, or you're going to end up in downtown Portland coming in from the west.

Okay, but have you done that? The hard part is right off Hwy 30 and up that long hill.

We can echo the sub-optimal towing experience on SR 47... not really fun. Anyone have an opinion about Cornelius Pass? We haven't tried it.

If you take Logie Trail (couple miles West of Cornelius Pass Rd) south you'll "T" into Helvetia Road. A left there will take you South to Hwy 26 and past our local Helvetia Tavern (famous JumboBurgers.) Nicer views than Cornelius Pass in my opinion.
No clearance problems at the railroad trestle next to the tavern. It's 10' 10" clearance and our 21 with a cell antenna and A/C clear it by several inches.
That's my neighborhood!
