I didn't say he does not have good taste or sense of humor. Don't care. He enjoys being negative towards others.

I will. You, Santiago, do not like anything that challenges your position, on hats, or on politics or anything else.
I can't do anything about the fact that around here, they are called "Silly Tilly". Wear one, if you like. I'm wearing Filson.

Glenn, I appreciate straight talk, thank you.
This is not about hat brands, like who cares about that.

With regards to politics, last "challenge" was when a member from out of the blue insulted half the US population referring to people that fly the flag are untrustworthy scoundrels. Yes I have a problem with that.

Yes, and consider the fact that one's perception of a person's online persona is often not what you'd find if you met them in person. I'll use Glenn as a guinea pig here. He can sometimes sound grouchy or skeptical here on the forum, but meet the man in person and you'll find him a genuine nice guy with good humor. I'd camp next to him in a heartbeat.

Blanket statements or characterizations of anyone, whether you agree with them or not, are often inaccurate. I find I can pretty much get along with anyone, once I let my guard down and get to know them a bit. A forum isn't always a clear picture, because the written word is only a part of communication.

OK let's get back to Mike's original post. For anyone attending Alf's Niagara Wine Escape who likes books and maybe not as much wine, try Outlet Books in St. Catharines, a great book warehouse.

And I did buy a Tilley Hat this May in Banff

It will be a hat show, similar to the Kentucky Derby...

Donna, nice to know that forum setting is there but it's not my style to filter anyone out. On the contrary, I want to know what's on their minds whether I agree or not, maybe others can use that feature.

Bryan, because my favorite comedians were Buddy Hackett, Don Rickles, etc. I think I am way past being a sensitive snow flake. Way past. Trust me nothing bothers me. Yes I like Glenn's sense of humor and I told him that a long time ago. I am positive I would like and enjoy his company even more in person as I don't melt easily and appreciate his humor. Trust me it's extremely difficult to gross me out.

I admit I unfairly singled him out. My issue is not Glenn but the double standard I see by him and others. I am referring to the negativity card used to divert issues that some find uncomfortable be it the trailer or otherwise.

Did you buy any electronics. If you come to Vancouver PM me and you can overnight in our driveway.

You see elderly couples walking the seawall in West Vancouver wearing matching Tillys.
Maybe on your side of North Van. but me and my buddies have worn them sailing since they first came out 30 or more years ago and I've never heard them called that. Probably one reason mostly older folks wear them is because they're a little on the pricey side. I must confess to having a couple of knock offs that cost a fraction of the cost of a Tilley.

Maybe I should see if they'll replace a pair of damaged shorts that I have. Years ago a pack of wild dogs outside the Athens airport set upon me and one managed to sink his teeth through the back pocket Been a fan of the durability of Tilley products ever since.

Here is link to article in Vancouver Sun with reference to Tilley durability.

Shelley Fralic: After 30 years, Tilley is the new hip

And, a link to the Filson Packer hat.

In the interest of not accumulating more "stuff" which is the subject of another Escape thread a few days ago...I've had to ban myself from book stores until I read all my books I've bought over the years but haven't gotten around to yet.

And yes I like my Tilley hat.....but wanted a hat for cool wet weather so I have the Filson Tin Bush hat also.

As for postings....I just filter out things I disagree with and keep on reading. Life is too short to worry about the little things....
