Thank you all, the leg will heal faster than my hurt feelings and great chagrin over my not paying better attention or giving more respect to that cattle guard. It happened so fast, believe me I was totally amazed when I found myself in the prone. Looking subsequently at other (newer?) cattle guards they all looked considerably less lethal. I was wearing work boots at the time, which either provided ankle protection or contributed to my foot getting jammed tight between them rails...dunno which. I still cannot understand the absurdity of what happened.

Jim I wrote the thing using Word and 12 point Times Roman, cut and pasted it into the forum text box, and was amazed the font then changed to what now looks like 9 point. Agreed, that's too small and I should have made a correction. I don't think I can now edit the original post... I could resubmit.

Ruby road was partly a fun drive but had plenty dicey spots... I would not care to do it with a trailer again.

Sorry to learn of the accident, but glad you made it back without any further harm. Thank you for the pictures.

Jim, for future reference, depending on the browser you're using, you may be able to adjust the font size in order to easily read it. For example, CTRL + works on both Firefox and Chrome. Use CTRL - to reduce the font size.

Good write up, Myron, I can almost feel your anxiety when that vehicle was following you on the way back, especially since you were now “Broken Arrow”. Glad you made it back safely and now on the mend. The picture of Ruby Road looks like one I'd want to explore, but without Escaping Reality in tow.

Myron, hope you are done with that area! Yes, that cattle guard looks so old, never see anything like it. Now thanks to your mishap we know not to walk on one. Probably no one wants to go near there to put another one in. Hope you heal soon.

I can picture a bear standing behind a tree saying, "Foiled again, we lost dinner".... as Myron pulls himself up.

Given the location, so close to the border, more likely some illegals were watching and hoping that he was stuck so they could drive away with his nice rig and arrive in America in style.

I bumped it up. It's difficult to change to "standard," but hope what I did helps.
