Tipping the driver
Is it customary to tip the driver that brings my new escape trailer to Sumas? If so, how much? I take delivery Tuesday and want to do what I should.

I know I tip Dave who delivers my Escapes here in Pennsylvania, why not thank and slip him some cash and tell him to have a beer on you.

But you are a special case Jim. You have to stay tight with the Escape delivery guy because you know it will only be a few months until he delivers your next Escape. Don't want it to arrive with a full black tank. . With your prolific trailer purchases, it seems that you enjoy shopping and planning for your next Escape almost as much -or maybe even more- than owning one.

Lol ice breaker, that's a good one!
Thank you for your input cpaharley 2008. I certainly will do that, and I do really appreciate that he delivers my trailer. Get Canadian? Or is my USD ok?

I thought this topic title was familiar...

For someone who routinely travels across the border, I'm sure either currency would be appreciated. It's not like someone who is always in one country, and is given currency that is essentially useless until converted at a bank.

I think the OP is referring to the person who drives the trailer across the border for US "factory" pickup as opposed to having the trailer delivered to their home. I tipped Dave when he delivered to the MA, guess it wouldn't hurt to tip the local guy $20 if he helps you hookup and answers any related questions. Don't know about it being customary though, I don't recall reading about folks doing such.

Good catch; I didn't really notice the Sumas reference.
Still, it seems like the same issue, just at a smaller scale. I bought a delivery driver dinner after an all-day drive (and after he had to wait for us); how about coffee?

I always judge gratuities on what makes me personally feel fair based on level of service and demeanor of the provider. A few years ago four guys moved a 975 lb safe for me and were very careful, and took time to level the install so the door would stand open and swing shut easily. I tipped them all while their boss sat in his pickup. Do what makes you feel right and you can't go wrong.

Are you suggesting a tip that is the equivalent of the price of a beer?
