I too use my cell phone and Google Maps around town. But on road trips we can't always rely on a cell signal so we use the Garmin. (Google Maps may be more accurate, but it still gives bad info on occasion.) Also, when we travel in the U.S. our data for the iPhones cost a lot more, so we save the phones as back up, especially in cities when we are locating restaurants, etc., but use the Garmin on the highway between destinations.
