Ours worked the same, though we only used the deadbolt. It seems silly to have the latch locking too.

Yep, us too. Remember we got locked out on our maiden voyage in 2013 when the whole lock thing got started. Only use the deadbolt from the inside.

Since we have been all over the lock thing in the past, and recent discussions have centered on tools, gadgets and road preparedness, I'll just relate that we are primarily deadbolt user when we leave the Escape. However, getting the repair parts for the Fastec locks was an ordeal that took repeated calls to them and they did not always tell me the truth. "It's in the mail". In the long run I sent back several back ordered lock sets and master keys that will pull the cylinders. My thought is always. " how many more of those are still out there and not returned. So camper door security is marginal like many other parts of daily life. That's what insurance is for.

I remember vaguely that I was warned not to lock the deadbolt from the outside, and I only use it on the inside in my 2009 (Fastec) and so far so good.

I still have mine, Dave, if you ever need to replace. As you indicated, their service was poor so I kept everything, old and new.

I had good service from Fastec with my lock replacement.
When I had problems, I got them on the phone and they talked me through the replacement while I did it.

We had trouble with our handle (upper) lock sticking. The key would turn, but the lock would not release. It would take multiple attempts until it would finally open and allow us to enter the trailer. I explained this, along with what I thought was causing the problem to Escape. They, in-turn, talked to the lock manufacturer. Even though our lockset wasn’t on the recall list they sent us out their cylinder replacement kit. I stated that I didn’t think the cylinders were the problem but since we were getting ready for our long trip I did the swap out. The problem hasn’t reared its’ ugly head again, but seeing as it was an intermittent issue in the first place, I’m not convinced that we’re out of the woods.

I believe the problem lies with the latching plate that was loose, and still is. That plate resides at the other end of the handle cylinder (it’s not touched by replacing the cylinder) and keeps the handle from being pulled to release the latch. It looks like I’ll have to remove the entire lock from the door in order to address this issue.

What we do have from the cylinder swap out are keys that are very difficult to insert and extract. I’ll probably run a rotating wire brush over the keys to knock off any sharp edges and see if that helps. Anyone have this problem with the new cylinders and keys?

I've not had any problems, before or after the Fastec recall.

I'd like to ask that people posting on this thread make sure they note which brand of lock they are discussing, since ETI switched over at some point.

Somehow, I don't think that will be as warm as Isla Blanca. But you should have a great time nonetheless.

We're in Florida and having problems with our door lock.

How do you remove the cylinders in the lock? Our upper lock is not aligned and the key won't go in - and basically someone has to stay in the trailer, or you get locked out- key will not go in- it is the top lock not the dead bolt.
Was thinking at least if we could remove the top cylinder we could function.

It's not something we can wait for as we are basically stuck with one of us having to stay in the trailer or leave the screen door open only.

Probably have that or similar lock assembly available at Camping World and there should be one of those close by in Florida. I'd just remove it and go over and match it up.

Is it a Fastec or another brand?
I would call Fastec help line.
They talked me through removing and replacing my cylinders when they had the recall. However, it required a special key/tool that they sent to me.
