We pick up on trailer mid - November. I was wondering what you meant regarding "we were on the way to Sumas, Wa to take possession of our trailer." Didn't you pick up trailer at ETI in Chilliwack?

U.S. residents take possession from ETI in Sumas, the nearest city across the border from Chilliwack, so that ETI does the work of importing into the U.S. for them.

Thanks! Good to know! I'm sure ETI explained or will be explaining that shortly since our 15 B will be completed 10/31.

We just went through the orientation-and-pickup routine yesterday. It went pretty smoothly. About 2 hours of "here's how this gadget works" while Dennis installed the Anderson hitch on our truck. Then he showed me how to hook up and unhook.
Then another fellow, Joe, hooked up to his truck and drove the trailer through customs at the border, while we drove our truck there. We met at Bob's Burgers & Brew in Sumas (it has a roomy parking lot) and took delivery of the trailer. Joe supervised and assisted while I hooked up, to make sure I was doing it right (we were glad to have his assistance). Joe also installed our WA license plate for us (ETI is truly a full-service outfit).
They seem to have the whole process completely baked. Sumas is (I think) about a half-hour drive from the factory in Chilliwack.

Does the exterior part of the antenna unscrew? I'm thinking of the need to unscrew an antenna in order to put on the winter trailer cover and I've often wondered about that Wilson trucker antenna.

The antenna unbolts from the bracket, however because of the cable, you can't take it off. I gaffer taped mine to the side of the trailer before I put the cover on.

I don't think he's channeling, I think he's using gaffer tape.
I still have two rolls that I kept when I turned in my gear on retiring two years ago. I wouldn't be without it.

For those that don't want to bother with a Google search on Gaffer's Tape, it is a much improved version of duct tape. Doesn't leave residue even after being in place for months. More expensive, but worth it.

Jon, are all gaffer tapes the same or is there one or two brands that are better? I see that Amazon carries many brands in various colors and sizes? Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I suspect that like all things, the different brands are of different qualities. I've always used Permacel brand, which is now called Shurtape.

Getting back to the Wilson antenna and booster, wondering if there's some way to install that antenna without drilling through the roof. Like through some existing orifice, vent, or window. Where there's a will, there's a.... etc.

That particular antenna, no -- but there are other models. Some use a metal bracket that you might be able to clamp to an existing roof component, or maybe to an epoxied in block. You'd still have to route the cable of course.

There is a mast-clamp version of the same thing. You could use extendable painters poles and rig it up to the rear bumper as needed. Add a cable bulkhead connector somewhere and you're done.

The mag-mount antenna specs the same as the trucker for reception and the wire is very thin. I ran it outside my emergency window and put it on top of my little Weber BBQ. Window closes fine on it. Wilson says all you need for a ground plane is a 4 X 4" square metal plate that the magnet will stick to. Watched NLCS playoffs in Aspen campground 2 miles up Tioga pass on my tablet w/Dish network.

So you can't watch the game until the Weber cools down enough to put the antenna on top? ........................couldn't resist that opening........
