It's quite all right. I am aware that this is far too much stuff and it is indeed funny to try to imagine cramming it all into a 21 ft 5th wheel. That's why I'm asking -- by how many orders of magnitude is it too much? I can give up most of it except the Star Trek uniforms. Yes, if necessary, I will wear only those.

I think the OP is having fun at our expense !
A modified low boy semi trailer seems more appropriate after seeing the length of the Op's list.

Hey, Conuma, which of my stuff do you wish you owned? If it is the re enactment or archery stuff, I can make it for you or refer you to good craftspeople who sell directly. If it's the Intuous tablet...I had to save up for 4 years to buy that. But IPads are getting ever closer to the same functionality as Wacom products, and more versatile, so stay tuned.

Hi: Lagom... I'd say sarong to about half of that stuff. Hard to do when you only carry one of some things. I personally can't do without tooth picks or mint flavoured tooth harps!!! Alf

Hmm, Escape Artist, you think I could keep about half that stuff in the 5th wheel? Thank you, that's a very useful assessment. I could probably manage volume reduction by half.

Nice to know that the warranty would be impacted by full timing. We were considering getting a new 5.0TA and full timing for a while. But... one problem was going to be the storage with Beth wanting to bring along her sewing machine and a lot of quilting supplies. Now she's just got a new embroidery machine for her birthday and would likely want to bring that along as well
Anyway in the meantime we're going to make some updates to our now 10 year old 5.0 classic. After putting in LED lights two years ago I finally picked up my new solar setup yesterday

FLoat, Conuma and Reagent Grade, thank you for the suggestions about food and plastic containers. I expect the glass Ball jars in which I am accustomed to organizing my staple foods will have to go. Heavy and breakable.

I think that the combination of a large SUV, or a pickup with a topper and a trailer would actually provide quite a bit more protected cargo space than a 5th wheel, wouldn't it?

C&G, Thank you for the reminder about the warranty! I would be "full time" for several months at a time but not unbroken year round. Still, it's a potential concern. Wear to upholstery and curtains is trivial but I wonder exactly what "structure" is at risk from heavy use? Is, er, the floor gonna break or something? Escape molded fiberglass is famously tough, but when it "goes"....what exactly is it that wears out or breaks down? Is the weight of the stuff I carry in the 5th wheel a major factor in rate of breakdown?

I doubt that ETI will be sending around inspectors to make sure you are not full-timing.

That, and it is just not something I would worry about. If I wanted to full time, I would just do it. While it is nice having a warranty, they really do not get exercised very often. Full timing would have no effect on individual item warranties.

I think one of the biggest concerns is the moisture on exhales. I recall reading something about the trailerneeding unoccupied time to "dry out ." If you're single and outside much of the time, I would imagine that moisture issues would be less of a concern.

That's relative to where you live. In costal Florida, the PNW and BC the trailer may never dry out. In Arizona you could use the bathroom as a steam sauna and the whole thing will be dried out 15 minutes after shutting it down.

I choked on an orange and about passed out. Then I started back over the list to adjust the aaaah volume. I started off with wearing the bike helmet all the time. And lost it again.
Man, that's quite a list. First thing I would do is get some of those blanket compression bags that you suck the air out of. When I bowhunt, I take three arrows. If that don't do it I go home.
I have to review this list closer. It gets cold on some of those star trek planets, I could see where one could get double duty out of the heavy wool cape.

Since you're looking maybe at buying an Escape 5er... what size truck do you drive? Maybe instead of a trailer, you might want to consider buying a cabover truck camper and putting it on a flat bed trailer. This is a less-than-beautiful combo, but it would give you some ideas, if storage is really that important. Look at all the space you could pack with totes!
In case you're wondering, yes, we've had someone ask about doing this same thing, but with an Escape 5er.

Lagom,
I'd research the number and size of the cabinets in a 5'er. Mock them up in masking tape and cardboard and start "packing". Someone here was basically thinking about your same issues and ended up doing a trailer "layout" in tape on the floor of their house. That helped with the spatial thinking.
You maybe happier with a bumper pull style trailer, a pick up with canopy and a rental storage unit somewhere central to your travel destinations.
Tom

Actually the amount of items listed will be limited to the size of the tow vehicle's storage area. While planning for my pick up of Prairie Schooner, I laid out my bed size in my dining room, approximately 5'x6' x 18" tall as a staging area. Over the next 4 months I filled all that space with containers for the stuff I was going to carry out to Chilliwack and then transfer to the trailer. With a bumper pull, I had a tonneau cover. With a 5th wheel, the hitch will take up space unless acquiring it at Chilliwack. So draw out your available space and see how much you can fit into it.
