Stillwater Campground

In mid-July, we stayed at Stillwater Campground on Lake Granby in Colorado. It is a USDA Forest Service campground with beautiful views that is a short drive from Grand Lake, CO and the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. We stayed there three nights and waking up to the views of the lake and mountains was incredible!

When I get more organized and have a bit more time, I will try to post a trip report with some more pictures!

Hi: MyronL... How did you level the trailer so the beer could chill? Alf

Alf, could be that the beer was already chilled and several consumed as evidenced by the angle the camera was in when the photo was taken.

Read this interesting story about the EPA... the Gumma-mint, back when the big Super Fund Sites were created (Was that the Carter Admin?) to deal with catastrophic industrial ground pollution and waste left behind by industry, the EPA wanted to put them old gold mines etc., on the site list, to provide funding for a clean-up.

But the good fathers of Silverton fought hard and won, to keep the mines off the list, in the name of tourism.

Beachside State Park

Thanks to Kootenaigirl I was able to take over her reservation for the best spot in the Park, site 64. Right next to the beach access, trees on the windward side, privacy and a million mile view. The dogs and I had a wonderful time. Thanks, Fiona, for posting the availability instead of just canceling.

Well, dang. I've tried 6 or 7 times now, photo says uploaded but never appears in the message. I made a small album instead. Sigh.

Hi Bruce,
Love that drive along the Columbia River! I find it very interesting how different the veiws are from the Washington side and from the Oregon side ..... both breathtaking.

And YES, that is one proud old girl ...... still beautiful after all those years! Bet someone here knows about her lineage.

Picture of our "staging area"

This is a picture of our garage where I pile everything that is slated for loading into the truck bed.

Tuesday a.m. after the Labour Day wknd we are scheduled to head for Apple Beach RV in Oliver for three nights. Wednesday we have booked a wine tour with Desert Tours. They pick up and deliver at Apple Beach. Thursday a.m. we are headed for Nelson. We may stay at the City CG right in town (for an overnight to be close to walk to Nelson d-town). Or we head on for Kokanee Creek From which we intend to spend a few days seeing Ainsworth and Kaslo. Plan to head back home via Vernon and will stop in Vernon area at one of the provincial camp grounds there.

Then it's back home to work?

Good luck getting into Nelson City camp ground. I'd have an alternative in mind.

Thanks for the heads up.
The alternate is to push on to Kokanee Creek

But this is when everybody is done with camping except us older folk without kids right? I see that there is a Walmart in Nelson. Maybe that will be our first night in a parking lot

Not prebooking everything is me trying to become more flexible
