Hi Larry and Liz, I live near Nelson and noticed that the municipal site has sites available these days - during the summer it can be packed. It is super convenient to take in the town. But Kokanee Prov Park is one of our favorites and usually the first trip of the year, as close to home. The redfish are running right now and there is are great trails to view the fish. We may be camping there ourselves and would be great to meet you!

Our view at Dead Horse Point SP, Utah in August. Site #3. We were about 75 yards from canyon and a 2000 ft drop. Amazing views.

Thanks for the info about the City CG!

We plan to be at Kokanee Creek from the 13 - 15 that would be great.

Apple Beach RV, Oliver, B.C.

Our view at Apple Beach RV, Oliver B.C.

First night at Apple Beach. Small CG in the heart of BC's wine country. Nice enough CG. Comes with owls hooting in the weeping willows and LOTS of CG rules. Costing 30.00 (after taxes and with full hook-ups).

Tomorrow we get picked up for a 4-hour wine tour

Liz notes that this is our front window. The site is a pull thru

Looks like tent pads.

DHP state park is nice. We stayed there for a few days in summer 2014. Got hit by a huge windstorm that blew down all of the tents in the campground. All of the Escapes (1) weathered it quite well, just a little bit of rocking to put us to sleep.

Correct. They are tent pads. Most sites have them in proximity to the RV pad.

Is that the camp ground next to the Kalaloch cabins and restaurant? Do they have hook ups? I've thought of camping there we stayed at the cabins once. Very pretty place.

The campground is just a bit North of the Kalaloch lodge. There are no hook-ups available. There aren't even any showers on site. As you know though there is a huge gorgeous sandy beach all along the lodge, cabins and campground.

Fox hunt: As T&R stated, it is north of the cabins. The link he provided is great. You can reserve sites during the busy season which I recommend. It is a very popular campground. Part of it is open all year. Potable water is available next to the dump station. Since it is a national park, you can use a senior pass for half off rates.

Hi Fox Hunt,

I see you are from Olympia ... my home town .... I think that the entire Olympic Peninsula is about the best drive around you can do. Its hard to find a bad place to camp. If you happen to choose a rather vanilla camp site, you can always unhook and drive solo and see the most spectacular vistas at about twice a minute ... especially this time of year. LUCKY you if you are planning a trip!

Even moose love Escapes

On our first morning in Gros Ventre Campground in Grand Tetons a moose cow and calf wandered over to our Escape to check it out. I couldn't get outside (I was still in my boxers and moose are BIG) so all I have are photos from inside! I didn't think until later to ask the outside gawkers to send me photos of our Escape with the moose. I think she was just admiring herself in the window. Very fun time!

As an aside we met Lothar and Wendy from Vancouver Island at Yellowstone. They are taking the long route to the NOG in October. It was fun to visit with them and their 17B.
