We just came back from several days at Deception Pass SP in Washington. Besides enjoying the beach and forest at this campground, we toured Whidbey Island and also spent some time at the Tulip Festival near La Conner. We loved the clam chowder at Seabolt's Smokehouse in Oak Harbour, though the tavern at La Conner had pretty good chowder as well.
This was our first trip of the year and it was sooo good to get away!

My wife, Margie, took the photo out our back window. If you look closely you can see a ghost image of yours truly haunting the forest. We had quite a laugh when we noticed it!

And here I thought that was a Bigfoot sighting. And not the trailer type either.

We really like Deception Pass--our fave little site is 112..we were lucky because it fit our Boler nicely and is still fine with our 17...
I know what site you were in..(bad when you know what area of the park you are recognizing--then I saw the number across from you--we had friends stay in that site once)..I have always wanted to stay in 115 but it is always one of the first ones to go...
And you gotta love the tulips....Bad on a weekend though---oh the traffic...

I saw that! Too funny!
And great on the tulips. When I drove up to ETI I was expecting to see fields of them from I5, but nothing doing. In the past you could, but this year all of the fields must be way off the freeway. Did see the signs telling you which exit to take, though.

You're right. I remember seeing the tulips from the I5 in the past, but not this year. My wife just took up photography (course and all) a couple of years ago, so we weredown in the muck setting up tripods and peering through lenses. Lotsa fun!

I took a tour of one of the farms many years ago and they said that they sell some of their bulbs to the Dutch! I thought that was pretty cool or funny - take your pick.

Beautiful photos Bob. Officially envious. My view for the last 2 weeks has been considerably more dreary.

Robert, now I remember why you are posting photos of snow, you picked the wrong time to be in Guelph, did you check out St. Jacobs on the weekend?

Not a chance Adrian. My tolerance for cold is considerably low, and I didnt pack a winter coat and boots either.

The tulip fields near Mt. Vernon are so bright that they hurt your eyes to look at them. When I saw them it made me wonder if they reflect ultraviolet light from the sun, since some insects can see UV light. Does anyone know?
