We thought it was great. Here's some more "backyard" photos of the same spot

Okay, John, is this a secret lake (fishing) or can you share the location. There are many beautiful vistas like this in your area. We did White Swan Lake last year on the way back from Kananaskis, AB and were wowed by the stunning scenery. And when you park your Escape on one of these lakes it's like it's your own backyard!

We leave this Sunday for New Mexico. If we have decent WiFi along the way I may post some photos as we go.

Plus, at White Swan Lake PP you have a natural hotspring only a short distance away. We have always enjoyed going to White Swan PP.

Bob he did kinda share the location, he did tell the latitude and height above sea level - "49.005 Latitude and 1290 meter ASL in the Selkirks of SE BC" . So if John doesn't tell us you can always go along the border, after all he was almost on the border, and look for somewhere at that height

Adrian

on edit just realized John was straight along from us, we are at 49.0056 latitude!

Do you see any evidence of a wall being erected where you are? If built it could make John's lake even easier to find!

Hi: Bobbito... We won't likely qualify for a wall... more likely a "Snow fence". Alf

Bob we would lose the wall or snow fence occasionally here when we have our "lake" This photo is during the 2011 flood, the border runs along the south side of town, the diked area to the left of photo where the rail lines split is the hamlet of Noyes MN.

Didn't have my Escape with me on this trip, but I did have some great views out the "back" window of my canoe. These pics were taken on Labour Day weekend on the North Saskatchewan River between the Bighorn Dam (near Banff and Jasper National Parks) and the Forestry Trunk Road (by Nordegg, AB).

You are correct. The water was ice cold. We did wear dry suits, so an unexpected swim would not have been deadly. However, the weather was also cold with quite a lot of rain so we paddled extra long days and finished up the 130km trip in 2 days instead of 3. Paddling 65km a day solo in a whitewater canoe is actually a pretty demanding task. But as my buddy always tells me, any day on the water is better than a day in the office.

Hi: ice-breaker... This is true and to get those views I don't blame you for cheating on the "Window"!!! Alf

Oops - photo posted too fast. Tonight I'm in a thunderstorm in NE New Mexico - snug as a bug.

Anne,
Are you around Raton? That looks similar to that stretch.

I have yet to do that stretch. Isn't it just a short day trip? I know folks that start there and go to Rocky.

Ice-breaker, totally awesome! You call it a dry suit; we call it a wet suit!

A dry suit keeps you warm and dry. It is waterproof. A wet suit keeps you warm, but not necessarily dry.
