Those waxwings like berries of all kinds. After they ripen and generate the maximum amount of sugar they begin to slowly deteriorate. This deterioration produces alcohol. In the case of junipers, gin. Them birds aren't so dumb. I took Rita to the eye doctor earlier this week. About 50 Robins were gorging on hawthorn fruits. While I waited for her, about 25 drunken robins flew into the windows, bounced off and went back to feeding ( drinking) think ice wine.
