You have to be able visualize what it could be and know how to make it happen.
I wouldn’t have thought about the two way radios.

From Bella Coola to Anehim Lake BC

The view from out window is a bit obscured. It had just rained and the road was muddy.

Wow,

We've been contemplating that area for next summer and had heard that the "Freedom Road" was steep etc. but hadn't researched it. Just watched a couple of videos on it. Makes some of the roads in Baja look good.

Must be nice. Here in NJ I pay $20 for a state park site which is a clearing with fire ring and picnic table. No utilities.

Hi Steven
I’ve camped there several times when I lived in Council Bluffs. The fees for camping that you posted are standard for most Iowa State Parks. I’ve caught a lot of crappies out of that lake by fishing about a foot above the thermocline which is at about 17 feet if memory serves. One of the nice things about this park is that it is not too far from Atlantic Iowa where there’s a good Fareway grocery store and other amenities. Not too far off the interstate 80 on all paved roads. Don’t leave food out (raccoons with a college education) Hope you enjoyed your stay.

Actually this is our 2nd stay here. The 1st was coming back from picking up the trailer and the Osoyoos rally. Found it on a list of state campgrounds at the Iowa welcome center on I80 going east.

Hi Steven
Just in case you visit a state park in Iowa and the campground is full you can go to mycountyparks.com and learn about nearby camping in one of Iowa’s 99 counties. They county park systems service 10,500 campsites in Iowa with all levels of accommodations. There are also over 300 rental cabins. And don’t forget there are free dump stations at nearly every interstate rest stop along with fresh water fills too. You’ll find the castles in Spain through your window pane, back in your own back yard.

We have two Corps of Engineer campgrounds one 19.4 miles the other 21.1. Sites on very large lake with water, electric. With senior discount $11 for 30amp $13 for 50amp. I pick the sites where I can unload the kayak and have it beached in front of the trailer.

Iowa rest stops are some of the best I have seen and now a good report about their State parks....good to know. Michigan taps a $9 out of state daily fee to theirs....Pennsylvania's state parks are now approaching $30 a night. Time to do more in Iowa...

Hi Jim
Also Iowa has several Corps of Engineers areas where the senior pass can be used at a discounted rate. I have laid in a supply of Iowa paper road maps which will be available at the Mississippi River Rendezvous. Not only can you get a map but also consultation on where to go and what to see from a native son and daughter. There are also some nice city campgrounds that work for some folks especially if they are visiting for a special event.
