Since covid no Tuscany this year.... so checking out our own backyard. 50 minute drive from our hometown. Giethoorn it us, flatlands, loads of barrow canals, ideal for canoe...

Cheers from the netherlands..

Staying in the house or yard for the most part. Not sure when I'll camp again.
Take care.

Seef,
I remember when you got your 5.0 shipped inside the container, quite an experience, and then the european electrical issues. Glad you are still enjoying the Escape...

That was about 5 or 6 years ago😱 we are still very happy with our 5.0.

Still comfortable and it still turns heads when cruisin through the country.

All the start-ip ‘troubles’ are solved and we are having loads of fun with it.

Yesterday on the way this campsite we had to go through are very small village with very narrow streets. It still is fun to me driving through these ancient villages.

As i said, no Tuscany this year because of the pandemic, so exploring the lowlands this year. Not so many miles but believe me, we do live in a very beautiful country with very nice and very small, campsite👍😎

Hope you guys are well and coping with this pandemic.

Stay safe, take care.

Kind regards from the Netherlands

No camping allowed here in MA, we were talking about pulling the trailer into the backyard yesterday and faking it. The lawnmower noise kind of spoils things though.

Near Gaylord, KS

Near Gaylord, KS. There's a roadside stop that has a mini Statue of Liberty. This is the view. We stopped here for our lunch break.

Those small statues were a project of the Boy Scouts of America in 1950. We had one in the parks system when I was superintendent. The Visual Arts committee exerted political pressure to move it from Greeene Square Park to the north end of the Mays Island in the Cedar River. On that island was both the City Hall (Veterans Memorial building ) with Grant Wood designed stained glass window, Linn county courthouse and Jail and Veterans Memorial Plaza. I did not have much say in the move and it was summarily erected in one of the flower beds. I pointed out that they had destroyed our water service in placing her in the flower bed. The council agreed and authorized funds for a new irrigation setup which was a huge improvement. The catastrophic flood of 2008 damaged the base and in a thunderstorm with wind she toppled over. These were very thin metal and very lightweight. One of my employees spotted her early in the morning and called me. I went downtown and put her in the back of my pickup and took her to a park shop for safe keeping. I reported the incident to my director who reported it to the Assistant City Manager
(guess where this is going). Nothing was done and no directive came to me. About 3 months later somebody noticed her missing and reported it to the new media and the police. The hunt for the perpetrator/thief was on. A couple days later I got a call from the City Manager. I emailed him a copy of my report with reply to keep her safe. I told him I had her propped in a corner of a tool cage with a rope on her so she couldn’t fall over. He diffused the public concern and gave me a nice compliment about responding at 6 in the morning on a weekend, keeping the statue safe and promptly reporting the incident. 34 years in public parks and recreation, you’ll get these things, it’s part of the job. Would not have happened had she not been moved in the first place but why point that out?

There's been nothing but water views out my windows for the past 10 days. Went fishing at 4 different lakes in the Cariboo.

The drive up was uneventful. Our friends were 15 minutes behind us going up the Fraser canyon. Seems like a car went by them at a crazy speed, went around a corner, lost control and took out a high tension tower. The wire came down and was left hanging a few feet from the road. So they arrived about 3 hours later than us. We sometimes say "timing is everything."

Despite the drive up, including some slow going on forestry service roads there was still time to head out fishing from my kayak before it got too dark. Fishing was very good. Came home with the allowable limit in the freezer. Love that freezer.

It was fun to do a little portage to another semi connected lake and navigating through the reeds added another dimension. We had to pole our way until the passage opened up.

People ask how Gertie likes the trailer. The answer is that if the treats keep falling from the sky like they do at home she loves the trailer.
