No way. I was in E111 just one site to the east. When I was there I got to know the guy who was in E113 and he said it was his 45th year in a row!
The same groups of horses seemed to pass through about once a day. The photo is of a couple hanging around E113. The front one sure looks a lot like the culprit in your late departure.

Thanks Jim; was lucky timing with the lingering Monsoon and lower temps.

Jim: I suggest booking now for next year if you can. Unless you get lucky with a cancellation it is typically a year out for reservations because everyone seems to book again right after their stay.

And Maryland offers us oldsters a Golden Age pass which "Entitles adults, ages 62 and older, to free day-use entry to all state parks that charge service fees (for cardholders only, unless a per-vehicle fee is in effect, then free entry applies to everyone in the vehicle with the cardholder). This pass is also valid for half-price camping (includes campsites and mini-cabins, excludes full-service cabins and houses) for one site, Sunday through Thursday, excluding holidays."
There's no residency requirement. The cost is $10 and it doesn't expire (though a replacement will cost you another $10), and can be ordered online. I just received mine and I'll be using it for day use visits and for camping at Asseteague and other campgrounds. Where we are in Virginia, many of the Maryland parks are closer than those in our state. To wit: the upcoming Hungry Mother Rally at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion, VA is some 5 1/2 hours away while the beach at Assateague is just a bit over 3.
As to a rally, that would be great though I've never been to one and don't fully know what's involved. It might be hard to get enough co-located sites given how quickly they tend to get snapped up.

Rallies are very easy to put together, just mention a place that is near a group of owners, pick a date and just meet up. Pol luck dinners and swap meets happen later.....

Hi Joe
Nice photo, we’ve camped there a couple times a few years back. If you love horses and horse racing history the Horse park has some great attractions. We took the horse farm tour and saw some fine looking horses, horse barns and beautiful country in the spring. At one farm the aging Derby winner Monarchos was standing at stud. The groom gave anyone interested a peppermint candy which they hand fed to that big boy who at the time had the second fastest Kentucky Derby time in the record books. Two cans of Guinness stout a day along with his ladies kept him happy and healthy.
