Rally rally rally

We we be at the Brown county rally near Nashville Indiana next weekend. So many gatherings, so little time. Tennessee is a real pretty state and so is Kentucky, and Indiana too and and and. I really like seeing all the photos of favorite spots featuring fall color, fall sunsets and happy egg campers. Makes working 50 summers seem worth it all. Shoulder seasons, can't be beat.

Had to look up shoulder season. We do not have that term in SW Florida. It's means the same thing as low season. Yes being retired is nice. Hope the rain we are in in Franklin N.C. stays away from your area. It's been pouring here since last night.

In places in the U.S. with four distinct seasons, the shoulder seasons would be spring and fall. Winter would be the low or off season and summer the high season in more northern areas of the U.S., with possibly the opposite for some hot southern areas. At least for camping.

Stick season

In Vermont they have coined the term "stick season" its the time between when the leaves are off the trees and the snow covers the ground. When I first encountered the term a few
years ago I thought it was kind of phony but since then I have learned to appreciate the special hues in the curing prairie grass, the bright blue skies, and most of all the winter forms of trees and shrubs with unique branching patterns, withering fruit and interesting bark. Heavy jacket, good boots your favorite headgear, and mittens while out, warm fire in the fireplace, hot chocolate in hand and indelible visuals to hold me till Christmas.
Stick season: if you live in the north, be alive in the north, enjoy it all.

We spent a pleasant Thanksgiving weekend in Ontario.

A rainy Saturday in Chutes Provincial Park, Massey.

Despite the light showers, it was a great day for a hike, the fall colors were amazing.

Table set for breakfast at Eagle Lake NFS campground in northern California. Cost us $4 for the night with my Golden Age pass, and we had the campground to ourselves.

Lookin' good...won't get any cheaper heading south; although Horton BLM just north of Bishop is close. Great weather through next week; we're heading to Lone Pine Sunday....80's. Lone Pine cg also a fs campground.
