Probably not as sturdy, but cheaper. Reliance Desert Patrol Water Container, 23-L | Canadian Tire

I've got a half dozen of these in my carport for the big earthquake. Probably vulnerable to shrapnel though.

The pipe thread hole in the cap is great as you can adapt it to a short piece of hose for much easier transfer to the Escape's fresh tank.
Those are a good shape and size, but I find the vent cap annoying: it's just a plug which doesn't necessarily stay in when carried, and doesn't always stay out (to allow smooth flow) when emptying. The Aqua-Tainer (also from Reliance; has been available at Canadian Tire but I don't see it there at the moment) is a little more awkward because it is wider, and is harder to see the water level in because it's darker...
but uses the same cap, the thicker plastic is more durable, and it has a proper screw-on vent cap.

We use them and agree about the vent cap though you can just pull it free.

I use a six-gallon jug that has a spout that stores in the jug. I try to hold it into pour it in the empty fresh water tank. I usually make a mess.

My constraint is the gray water tank. When it is full, I have to find a dump station. I'm lucky if I can go eight days.

I also find my gray water a limiting factor. To fix this, I heat some water on the stove, pour it into a wide mouth gal Rubbermaid pitcher and add cool water to "taste". I bathe out of it with a microfiber cloth. I can get fully clean AND wash my hair in less than a gal of water.

Jill, I work on a farm in the spring and fall in northeast Iowa and I get water in town at the grain elevator where we deliver grain. I wouldn't be scared to ask any business or gas station about getting some water. If you do a little business with them, most would probably be happy to oblige. Loren

I've got the the same one for years.. light when its empty, sturdy and easier to handle (vs the collapsible ones) with how ever much water you can still lift bend your knees lol

Glen, I bought the same one, main reason was it fitted in the front storage box. Using it with its integrated funnel works just fine, and manageable WRT its weight when full. Don't mind the extra visits to re fill it, better than struggling to hold the funnel in the fill opening on the trailer, let alone my back.
