Thanks for address and exit #'s. This will take some stress out of pick up day. Now a dry day on October 8th to move in will make it perfect. [emoji5]️

Actually, Haagens bought some of the "excess" stores when Albertson's and Safeway combined. They're a separate company that went through some financial problems a few years ago and closed bunches of Top Food stores. They're now rebranding stores (under the Haagen name) and yeah, they're closing some of those as well. I kind of have to wonder if they're over extending themselves once again.

Haggen Foods (yes, Haggen) is a Bellingham-based food chain that was started in 1933 or thereabouts. It has run into a lot of financial difficulties since the Haggen family sold the business to a (I believe) California outfit some five or so years ago.

Interesting info. Didn't know Haagens had not been swallowed up by the big guys. We didn't get long enough with the Safeway now Haagens now closed store to even get acquainted. Appreciate the stock up list and directions. Will be very helpful.

Bumped forward:
With all the new Escapes being picked up, thought it a good time to bump this thread forward, because you do need to stock up for that fabulous first trip.

Post #19, there's a .doc file of locations.

Edit: I just re-read the .doc. file: Trader Joe's in Bellingham is a bit problematic regarding parking. When we were there, I dropped the wife at the front door, and parked along the lot edge & stayed in the drivers seat, then eventually got a tandem set of parking spots that our E17 and Honda Pilot just fit into.

One major change: Costco is no longer on Meridian Street but has a new store across the road from Fred Meyer on Bakerview.

shopping in Chiliwack

We plan to head back into Chilliwack and camp two nights close by to try everything out.

Does anyone have recommendations of stores in BC going back to or in Chilliwack?

There's a large Superstore minutes from ETI. Exit 119. Also usually has the cheapest gas around. There's also a Walmart close by. Remember though, if you're heading back across the border to check the list of what produce etc. you can take over the border.

I just bumped this thread forward, for those looking for supplies after picking up your Escape.

Check locations, some may have changed. The hints and suggestions are all good.

We also are staying at the KOA the first nite..there were only 2 sites left (for the 27th of April btw) WE decided to stay in Airbnb in Chilliwack area for a couple of days b4 pickup ...to check out the area, but will come back to USA Monday after orientation. Were planing to take the ferry out of Whidbey Island to Port Townsend, but now will head straight down I-5 as we have many NPs to see on our way home and will skip the Olympia NF...and we are already staying at an Airbnb in Oak Harbor on the way 'up'
