Do not buy the Axess 24" 1080p TV

I may look at tractors1 and War Eagle's suggestions...

Do not buy the Axess 24" TV/DVD AC/DC model. I just received it from Amazon and turned around and returned it.

1. Several dead pixels on the screen which look really bright and distracting.

2. DVD player plays at 480p, which looks very grainy.

3. You will have to tilt TV downward for best viewing angle. Otherwise, it will look dark.

Another thought, for another approach. This TV thing in a trailer is newish to us.

We have used a couple DVDs, but for the most part just download movies and shows to my small notebook computer. When we do play a DVD, I have a (very) small DVD player that connects to my computer. This combo works great.

I like having components for most things separate. Just like multi-task tools, the individual components often don't seem to be as good as individual ones, and if one part fails, the whole thing is often shot.

As I always bring a computer, so to through this DVD player in the bag is no big deal.

If I was to look for any downfall to this setup, is that it takes a minute or so to set up, and there is no remote, as one controls the DVD player through the computer screen.

Jim, are you a windows or mac guy? for windows you can get a usb stick tv tuner, I imagine there is similar for a mac. They work well, and some even have a remote. Just make sure it supports the OS you are using.

I do the PC thing. I used to have one of those years ago bought with the idea of using it in our trailer. Back then we rarely watched TV, but where it did work great was with my desktop at home. I could watch a game on one monitor, and work on another.

Seeing we now have a 24" TV in our trailer, this likely would not be needed anymore. My laptop (Lenovo Yoga 2) is just a small ultrabook. Fine for one to use, but not really to sit back and watch a movie on, though it has been done.

I just put in a 21" Axxes dvd/tv. $145 from Amazon and $12 for a 2 year warranty. If you get one, make sure the dvd loads from the side you want.

I was reluctant at first because it seems like an off the wall brand but in use, it's a great little tv!
