19’ Closet / shelf + fridge fan question

Hi all, I am finalizing my 19’ build sheet. I will be getting the lower pull out drawer under the closet. How many shelves have you installed in your closet? I am considering three to help separate the kids clothes from ours.... $75/ shelf does seem expensive if it is not necessary.

Also, has anyone ordered the exterior fridge fan? I am not sure the purpose of this as I have never had it in any previous RV.

The drawer under the closet is very handy. We didn't get any shelves because we like the convenience of hanging up some items that are in frequent use. But if we wanted shelves I have to say I wouldn't be paying $75 each for them. For a fraction of that you could get some adjustable track and shelving and put in and adjust them as required.

There's been tons of threads about fridges and fans. If you're planning on going to really hot areas it might be worth having.

75 a shelf is a little pricey like Ron mentioned pretty easy to do . If you do a search there are lots of others idea's also that others have done . We made our own shelves using the adjustable method Ron mentioned . We have 3 . We also have the drawer under the closet also . We have added a fan but have a different refrigerator . Pat

$75 per shelf is a lot, it’s true, but they’re really good shelves. We got 3 in our 19, with two drawers underneath. They do make for pretty deep shelves though.

We also got the external fan but haven’t had occasion to use it yet. We’ve camped in hot places with our previous 17 where I would have taken anything that would help boost the fridge performance, so that’s why we got it for the 19. The switch is located in the exterior fridge access compartment, which is fairly inconvenient, so at some point I will wire a lighted pilot light switch in that I’ll install next to the fridge inside.

I cut up one piece of 4x4 1/4" luan plywood, added some firing strips with air gun and viola, maybe $20 in parts.

The exterior refer fan turned out not to be viable unless you are sitting still and it is very hot, otherwise it is spent mainly in the off position.

Can you post a picture of "Lilly" and how it looks inside with 3 shelves? Also curious to see two drawers ... does it take away space from the closet?

The shelves are a bit over one cubit deep, say, one cubit plus one hand.

Our 19 closet is our pantry, but the drawer and shelf arrangement is slightly different. We've only one drawer under the closet, and two shelves instead of 3. This works well for us as a pantry because there's plenty of space for taller items (like a box of cereal or a canister of oatmeal) with fewer shelves. I installed some sliding shelves as well to make the back items easier to access. We love the pantry and are very glad we nixed the closet in favor of it.

Another option is the storage over the standard refer is a large pantry also, it is where the optional microwave goes.

Sliding shelving would be perfect. If I could do it over that’s how I’d do it.

Hi Sheldon,
Don't know how many people you will travel with, but visualize where you are going to put everything. The upper kitchen cabinet isn't deep, and won't hold a lot. The storage under the counter is spacious, but always in the dark.
Getting "things" out of the closet is easy.
We went with shelving (ETI's), and use it as our pantry. No drawer underneath, but got four drawers under the counter instead.
The upper cabinets in the bed area and dining area we use for clothing, towels, games, etc.
This way we keep the heavier stuff low and centre, while lighter stuff is stored high.

A simple puck light solves any darkness issues in the storage units...no electrician needed.
