Our build sheet is pretty much done. I would like some input about the high lift axle though. We don't intend to do much in the way of dirt/gravel roads or anything too rough. How much more clearance does the high lift axle provide, and does it raise the profile enough for gas mileage to be affected?

Hi: rbryan4... You probably don't need the high lift unless you're towing with a larger truck. Even then you can use a drop down stinger in your hitch to the required hitch height.
The axle lift usually adds 2-3&1 1/2" and just might affect your mileage, not to mention door step height. Alf

It's still an option, at $105 CAD. But, I'm leaning against it, since our MKX is a lower profile vehicle, and a lower profile trailer means less wind resistance.

The high lift axle increases the height of a current model 15' Escape by 1.5 inches. It is probably the same for a current model 17' Escape.

I noticed you have 2 shelves in the wardrobe closet. We currently have a 17B and have 1 shelf more or less centered - it depends on what you are planning on using it for- we have larger appliances - kettle/ toaster etc on one and use the bottom area for shoes. We keep our clothes in the bed/ dinette in 2 of the upper cupboards and in bins under the table/ bed.

One thing we added later was a surge protector- bought it from ETI- I would highly recommend it, there are lots pod posts about them on the forum. But, I know of at least 2 times, where it saved possible problems for us. I spoke to an RV technician who said they really are the best insurance , considering the cost of fridge/ air conditioner replacement if you have a major spike/surge.

I agree with Jim on the chrome wheels, I find the steel ones to be constant upkeep, unless you don't mind rust. it may depend on where you live?

Yes, the EMS by Progressive is needed if you ever hook up to cg electric.

My suggestion is to turn the two-burner stove from horizontal to vertical. I love the way mine turned out and really did increase the counter space which is at a premium.

No on the wheels. Stock are fine.
No foam, don't really need it.
No bike rack cuz no bikes.
Ez lube axle was not on option sheet - will add, thanks for reminder.
Sink/stove locations are fine with us.
No additional 120v outlets besides the stock 3.

I second the 12 v drops into the under bes area and upper kitchen cabinet for future lights, they can't put them in but will run the wires. I am curious why no spray foam?

I'm not sure you will gain that much more space with the 2 burner ss stove in the 17' model turned sideways but another idea is since you are getting the window over the sink and the stock sink is right next to the dinette window, aesthetically it may look better to have some separation of these windows by reversing the sink and the stove so that the window is further away rather than right next to the rear dinette window. Something to think about. Also since it is an opening window it will feed you overhead fan better regardless if you have the dinette window open.

Thought about it after you suggested it before Donna. Would add a couple inches laterally, but we also like the space behind when its mounted normally.

Hmm. Good points. Will go over the arrangement of sink/stove again with the wife. If she's happy I'm happy.

We really debated this one but eventually decided against it. Aesthetics, and won't be in the colder regions as much. We may lay down some carpet squares on the vinyl floor so it's not as cold on bare feet whenever we do find ourselves in colder climes.
