2017 Escape 19 Specs
Does anyone know if the "specs" shown for the 2017 Escape 19 on ETI's website are correct? Shows GVWR of 4000 lbs and dry wt of 2610 lbs. I am mainly interested in the total length, total height and width so I can start checking prices for an indoor storage place.
Total length 19'-6"
Body length 15'-8"
Total height 8'-6"
Exterior width 7'
Approx. Dry hitch weight 256 lbs
Approx. Dry axle weight 2354 lbs
Approx. Total dry weight 2610 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating 4000 lbs
Front bed / dinette 44" X 80"
Permanent Queen Bed 60" X 80"
Interior height 6'-5"
Bathroom size 40"w x 27"d x 72"h

I believe these numbers are without options, so height will increase with the a/c and/or antenna as will weight.

Right now I would not trust the accuracy of the ETI website with respect to 2017 models. I would call/email ETI for ANY details which are important to you.

Those are the old numbers the 2017's have a GVWR of 5000Lbs.
They calculated the total weight of ours to be 3495 Lbs which includes water and propane. We did not order a number of options such as 6 volt batteries, solar and such. We do have the group 29 battery and air conditioning.

I know that a/c shroud rises more than 6", it is at least 12" high, I think 9' 6" is the number you want. A 10' clearance will allow you some wiggle room, regardless of the final number.

I've seen low bridges off the Natchez Trace that were scrapped by RV's. I'd rather give myself some extra room than hit. Dennis said to allow 10' and that sounds like a safe number to me.

If you're building a shelter for the trailer, my suggestion is to make it about 2' taller than you think you need. That would allow you to have some work room on the top if needed. Granted it's still pretty small, but better than pulling the trailer out to reseal a vent because you're leaving on a trip... and it's raining!
My Scamp fits really well under my carport and since it's on asphalt, I've even washed and waxed it under there. Sweet! That's what I want for Ten Forward... sigh.

Wish I could build a shelter but can't for multiple reasons. I will be using an inside storage facility and wanted to get an idea of the minimum clearance (width and height) for the opening. So looks like 10 x 10 minimum but 10x 12 would be better. Appreciate the responses.

The fact that the A/C housing is 12" high doesn't mean that it increases the trailer height by 12", because there is other stuff sticking up there, too. If the trailer without A/C is 8'-6" tall, and the trailer with A/C is only six inches taller, that just means that the foot-high A/C unit is only six inches taller than (for instance) the MaxxFan.
A margin for error is good, but I wouldn't assume that these measurements from Escape are incorrect.

The Penguin II sits 9 1/2" above the roof line. I've measured it before also.

Keep in mind that - in the unlikely case that a storage facility allows you to work there - clearance inside the building may be substantially greater than clearance through the doorway. A margin for error or for later equipment changes is good, but it would be unfortunate to eliminate a good storage candidate due to a door which would fit the trailer safely but not meet some arbitrary standard for extra space.

Good info. The Maxxfan is what, 6" above the roofline? That's only a few inches more for the A/C. Of course the roof is not flat so it matters where stuff is on the roof; for instance, the MaxxFan is up on top, while the refrigerator vent is down on lower step.

and the Jack antenna is just as high as the a/c shroud.

I posted this in a previous discussion on the 2017 - 19'
-Air Conditioner 108" (2.74m)
-Jack Antenna 105" (2.67m)
-MaxxAir Vent 102" (2.59m) WHEN CLOSED. Taller when open.
-Fiberglass Roof 96" (2.44m)
These are the heights if the trailer is level. If there are dips or steep angles on the driveway, the trailer will pitch up and down. Overhead garage doors will often hang lower than the opening and a 10' high garage door opening is never 10' tall: its always a bit less. Also take into account hitching. You need to raise the front of the trailer in order to unhitch.

As Dave says, you need to account for dips and slopes and more. Our 19' was approximately 20'2" in length with the spare tire. (We use 9 1/2' as a minimum clearance for our 21', for 21' owners with A/C.) I would add a few inches to the measurements you are given, which you seem to be doing. Looks as if you are on the right track.
