21 Storage at head of bed, Led awning

Hello All,

My build sheet is due Nov. 2.

I have noticed a few (lately Loren and Cathy) request the option of storage at head of bed This was in addition to the cubbies outside the bathroom.

Does anyone have a picture of this?

One option listed on the escape website is an LED awning light strip. Has anyone added this? Pictures?

Thanks again for your help.

I believe this involves installing cubbies horizontally in lieu of the shelf, over the bed.

No pictures but we saw the led awning lights this week at ETI. They run as a strip just under the entire length of the awning. They provide adequate lighting w/o disturbing the neighbors and definitely add to the "cool" factor. I originally thought they were bogus, but having seen them we'll be adding them to our build list.

JIm, you have the shelf correct? Blue Bullet thanks for the info. I think I will add the LED lights on the awning now!

Jim, Much of your advice we are utilizing in our rig of course.

Seeing this, I have a question. Can you sit up in bed and read without your head hitting the shelf / cubbies? Thanks!

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I'm 6'1" and am comfortable reading in the Escape 21 bed. Haven't hit my head or any other body parts on the shelf, either.

I'm the same height, but the post was about sitting and hitting the head. I recline on the pillows to read and watch movies with no problem myself.

Yes, I just have the shelf over the bed and cubbies by the door.

Hi Don,
We picked up our 21' yesterday with the awning lights. Definitely worth having. They are controlled with a fob and you can adjust the brightness accordingly.

We had ETI omit the shelf. Cheryl's cubbies over the bed are beautiful but we were used to sitting up in the 19' and we would not be able to do that with any shelf or cubbies. Cheryl had measured for us and I think there is only 25" above the mattress.

I sit up in the dinette and lay down in bed to sleep. You can always sit up sitting sideways in the 21 with your back against the street side wall to read. The shelf is nice for kleenex, alarm clock, car remote, fan remote, or any remote you use.

Bill and Erline had a really impressive mod at the head of the bed. Bill, if you're out there, can you tell us about it?

No storage but we put in a headboard

Here's a look at our headboard, which worked great on the Thanksgiving trip. We decided not to add a shelf across the top of it, but we may yet (because if something falls behind there, it would be hard to fish it out). Obviously, we got the front window so don't have the standard shelf or optional cubbies. Very happy with our choices, so far - and many thanks to the people whose ideas we used.

Wow...if I ever got a 21 (won't happen), that's what I would do with the bed space. That looks absolutely fantastic.

Ooooo, love the color. Purple or burgundy; hard to tell with the bright sunlight. Either way, lovely colors and comforter.

Obviously you don't need the full length of the bed; I do, so that would never work. But it's a great idea and makes that area look great.

Headboard is great! Could be the perfect b-day present for someone I know. It looks to me like that headboard is thinner where the mattress slides against it then protrudes out a little above the mattress?

Mary F- can you give us a description of how it was made please?

The headboard is a great idea that we could use. Have not decided what to do yet. I guess you made it to keep yourselves off of the window and I know it works well for that.

We have a couple of clear soap containers from BBB on the walls for glasses. A container can be attached to the bottom side of cabinets.

Your window looks great!
