Hi: SeldomSeen... Biggest single factor with the 19'er. is making sure the trailer is towing level. That puts even weight on both axles and all 4 tires.
A good hitch shop can supply all the necessary stuff including a brake controller. Alf p.s. It will cost more at the toll booths!!!

When we visited the factory and looked at both the 5.0 and the 19', it didn't take us long to decide we didn't like the feel of the 5.0. It seems darker and more crowded inside than the 19' felt.

Escape seems to have something for everyone that is interested in a smaller, light weight trailer. Clean exterior lines, and very efficent floor plan. There was a time, say 35 years ago when I may have picked the 17. The 19 is more open, because of that extra 4". One thing for sure is they are all far better than anything I saw at the recent Northeast Ohio RV show.

Interesting that nobody has suggested comparing the time you're using the TV as a "trailer hauler" vs. an "everyday hauler." We're 4 years from retirement so my short-bed Frontier will (sadly) be spending more time going back and forth from Home Depot and Lowe's than it will be dragging our 19' around. The 5.0 is a great layout (we did the side-by-side comparison at the 'factory') but in the end, I can't dedicate my PU to pulling the 5.0. I'm just happy that we discovered this product line! There's no wrong choices so not to worry.

This has been discussed lots over the years, and was prime consideration for us, not only in the car we bought, but in the trailer as well. I did like a lot of things about the 5.0, but opted for the 19 partially because of layout and other things, but primarily because I wanted an SUV for everyday use, and to use while camping with the trailer set up.
