5.0TA Measurement
I have read several posts regarding this and now I'm more confused than ever. Does anyone know how long (in feet/inches) the portion of the 5.0TA that is attached to the frame might be? In looking at some of the posts, they say to take the overall length (21'2" as indicated on the brochure) and subtract the length of the Queen bed (80") and that will give you the length on the frame. By my calculations, that gives me: 254" - 80" = 174" which, divided by 12, is 14.5 feet ... which means the frame on the 5.0 is shorter than the interior of the 19' Escape, which I figure is 180".

The frame actually continues up and underneath the sleeping loft so technically it pretty much goes the entire length of the trailer, and it is attached on the underside of the loft. Perhaps if you explain what you are trying to determine someone may be able to give you a specific answer. Do yo mean the interior length of the floor?

The frame runs the whole length of the trailer, are you asking about just the lower cabin part, not to include the loft (bed) area?

As Carl and Bob said, it runs the whole length. The lower part of the frame under the lower part of the shell is about the same as the length under the 21. Under the end of the bed is the outside storage and propane tanks, which is about a couple feet.
I would go confirm measurements, but I just took my trailer in to the welding shop today to have the cargo box fitted, but will likely have it home tomorrow.

You're right ... I was trying to find out the length of both the part that goes over the bed of the truck and the interior length of the floor. (I forgot that the frame would have to go under the loft area .... sorry.)

Interior floor length, an actual measurement, will depend on if U-shape dinette or standard. And whether you measure ahead of the bottom step or to the side which is actually the second step.

I read somewhere that the lower part of the 5.0 is actually sitting on a 21' chassis but wanted to confirm if that was true and I think Jim just did.

You're right Donna, the actual floor space would depend on the interior configuration. I didn't explain my question clearly ... which is why I'm always confused.

I can measure mine tomorrow if you want, but I can't guarantee it's the same as the new body style.

Thanks Bob but don't go to any trouble, please. I was just curious because the specs read that the 5.0TA is 21'2" and I wanted to confirm that was the total length.

Pretty sure it is the same, or very close. I think the frame is unchanged. They did the same kind of work on the main body as with the 19 and 21, but had did a fair bit of work with the loft to get it to fit seamlessly with the rest.

A cargo box? Sounds interesting. Will you post pics?

I certainly will once it is done, hopefully by this time next week. Hopefully get some nice(ish) weather to do it. I just have to do the electrical (interior light, tail/signal light, and license plate light) and mount the bike racks.
