Thank you for your help...
Obviously, those responding are happy with their choices. My recommendation is that you spend as much time as you can in both models you are considering. Try to picture which suits you more and compare the differences. There is no perfect trailer; you just have to figure out which fits your needs better.

The 5.0TA and the 19ft are both great to tow. They are both great Escape trailers; aren't they all??

Offended? No way Carl. Was simply addressing the 'ease of towing'.

Hi: All... My guess is y'all know which side I'm on... After a 5.0 for 6 years, and now a 5.0TA for nearly 1 year it's all about the ease of hookup. My wife controls the landing gear buttons and I control the truck. When the hitch snaps shut I plug in for the light check... and we're towin'. The separate bed area is great... and ooh that headroom!!!

Alf,
Are there any noticeable differences between towing the single vs the dual axle Escape 5th wheel?

Hi: cpaharley2008... More stability for the 5.0TA... Not as much chucking up and down and the trailer seems to ride better looking at it thru the rear view mirror. I75 in N. Ohio and S. Mich. is a real test stripppp~~~~. Don't notice any other major difference. Reace told me during the design stage and our build sheet the 5.0TA is essentially a 21'er from the door back.
Still get as many "Double takes" on the road!!! Alf

Yeah, but we don't have the time, nor the clinical expertise, to discuss that here.

We have a FX4 150 with 20in tires-did you have to "Lift" the escape to tow? we are looking for a used escape

Folks with marginal knees, don't care for that. The 19' has a front window (love lots of windows!), the 5.0TA obviously does not. And other differences as well.

I made my decision, now it's your turn. Best of luck.
I also like the fact that the 5.0 TA queen has room on each side. In the 19, one side is against the back wall and the other side is up against a cabinet wall or frig, don't remember which. I like to hang my feet over the edge, could not do that in the 19.

I regularly control my body temp by hanging my feet out from under the covers, and have no trouble with that in our 19. At home they often hand over the edge, but in the trailer I just kick the covers back. Easy peasy.

For me, its not about body temp. I just like to hang my feet over the side, do the same thing at home

If they are the Ford original equipment tires, the 20-inch wheels don't make any difference to truck height compared to the other wheels sizes, because the overall diameter of the tires is the same. These are the sizes which are available from Ford for a 2015 F-150 (with overall diameters):
4WD and some 2WD
  • 275/55R20 (31.8")
  • 275/65R18 (32.0")
  • 265/70R17 (31.8")
two-wheel-drive only
  • 265/60R18 (30.5")
  • 245/70R17 (30.6")
Even those 2WD-only sizes would make the truck sit only 11/16" lower than the tallest of them.

Options such a 4WD and equipment packages such as FX4 often do affect suspension height, so it is good to include that detail

The thing I like the best is I can use real sheets (600 count Egyptian Cotton)! No trying to jam something against the wall(s). Everything kinda hangs over the edge, including the topper. I gave up sleeping bags years ago YMMV

And just so you know, I think the Travasaks are great, just not for me.

Thank you everyone. I've been trying to decide between a 5.0 and the 19 and all your posts helped a lot. I'm choosing windows!
