Think twice about that full door.....
We've had two escapes, first one had a full size bathroom door and a vent with no fan. Never had a problem with mold or excess moisture in the bathroom. The second one has a full size bathroom door with a power vent and have yet to notice mold or excess moisture. After a shower we always squeegee the walls and then take a clean rag and wipe up any missed water. We would do that even if we didn't have a full size door. I feel the gap whether on the top or the bottom looks terrible and if we where to buy a third trailer (which we're not) I would still gladly pay extra for a full size door.
If moisture were to become a problem I would consider your idea of putting a vent in the door, that might be an acceptable compromise. But after four years and many trips I just don't see the need.

I take it that most of your trips were not far. This is more of a concern in the U.S. climate where 90% of Escapes are sold.
Also, Escape knows what it has seen and heard on its trailers. It is a very small room in a very small trailer.

I agree about the looks of the gap. Looks horrible. I do the same thing after my showers. I also leave the ceiling vent on for a while and crack the window (unless it's really cold out). I also leave the door open most of the time with a bungee cord hooked to a Command hook on the edge of the cubby. Don't have any problems with airflow then! (See my signature to see why the door more often.)

I didn't know you could get a full length door. I'll remember that if I ever need to replace it. Thanks for that!

The gaps on the door don't visually affect me at all, and I thought they would. The gap at the bottom is at ankle level. Unless I get down on my hands and knees, I don't see it or notice it. The one at the top is above my head.. same thing.

Other brands of all-molded trailer owners actually take the whole door off to save weight and hang a curtain! Now THAT would bother me.

I'm not sure what the length of the trips has to do with it. Some of our trips where over 3 weeks, some where only 3 days. Unless the cc showers are exceptional we tend to use the one in the trailer.
We live in an area sometimes referred to as a "temperate rain forest" and as long as we take reasonable precautions (whether long or short door) I don't expect any problems.

On that point Donna we are in total agreement.

I did not say length of trip. "Not far" is referring to much of the Canadian climate. Nothing like much of the U.S., especially south. Many Canadians also do not need A/C but when they go to sell, the prospective buyers in the U.S. often want it.

I guess that I have noticed it but knowing the reason, that is fine. But removing it for a curtain, right, ugh!

Your perspective of Canadian weather and why we put A/C in our RV'S is very interesting.

Perhaps you consider the Canadian climate to be generally the same as in the U.S.? I am saying that many Canadians do not include A/C because it is not needed in Canada the way it is in the U.S. Especially in Texas!

When we went through four Canadian provinces, we were quite cool and did not need the A/C a bit. As soon as we dropped down into the U.S., it was blazing hot and we were running A/C. And that was the northern U.S.

I wondered about the door gap but now that I understand why it's there I'm happy to have it. It doesn't bother me at all and I like the fact heat can get in and it improves circulation.

Let me try and steer this back on topic. What I tried to express was that considering all the traveling and camping that my wife and I have done in all kinds of weather (hot, cold, humid and dry) we have yet to see a problem in the bathroom area or the rest of the trailer because of a full size door.
If you feel that a shorter door solves a problem that we have yet to experience then go for it.

By the way the coldest camping we have ever experienced was in southern Utah in mid May. Over night the temps were dropping down to the mid 20's Fahrenheit and daytime temps were only in the high 30's. Throw in some strong winds and you can understand why we left early. I told the campground manager we were headed back to Canada to warm up.

Oops I veered off topic again didn't I. Sorry about that!

We keep the temps cooler, so our igloos don't melt, leaving us homeless.

Of one thing, I am very sure: There is no such thing as a thread that stays on topic! And that is just fine.

Door Preference

I agree that it looks funny! I have had no problems either without a window or a fan (fan not available at the time and I didn't think of asking for a window there in late 2008.) and I would try to order a full length door if at all possible. Again, that is my preference.
As to a door latch, I think you can get one at Camping World or place like it and glue it, if you have a hole drilling aversion like me.

We dropped by Escape again on our way home from Osoyoos (motorcycle trip and not the greatest weather). They do sell the door latch, under $10, but we would have to put it on (silicone or screw mount, yikes!!! That being said we've decided to wait and try out the new door without the latch.....Joldie did show us the new improved door and it does appear to be solid.....
Thanks for all your comments so appreciated
