Guess it's just me, but I'd not hang a table on unbacked wallboard.
I'd hope ETI mounts theirs to framing, and not just the thin wall board. Of course they know where it is.

Part of the expense of a stooge table, might be adding a brace on the inside of the partition which is different than the whole wall.

They may be using the framing. We had a third counter extension that we did not decide the placement for until at orientation. They then installed it so obviously nothing was added for it specifically. Could have put it anywhere.

We had one added to the refrigerator wall over the foot of the bed. They waited for us to be there to see where we wanted it on the wall. Went on to something else and never saw them install it, but we didn't reinforce anything. It's solid, so they have some trick.

After some discussion about maybe need the wall next to stove reinforced, but turned out they added some bracing at no charge. Fridge side was fine as-is.
Can't imagine you doing it for less than they can, especially with the exchange-rate discount.

we have an extra flip up table installed by ETI fridge side of our 17B--no further reinforcing...Screws just went where the staples were so I imagine they went into braces that were already there. We removed the one beside the sink and put it beside the wardrobe and just used the same analogy--No issues but we don't put anything terribly heavy on them...One is a night table (fridge wall) and the other holds odds and ends. Both have been put up and down many times...

All I can say is don't lean on a counter extension, which I did, for some reason that I cannot fathom. One of the supports on mine folded, but not in the way it was designed for. I was able to bend it back and all is well.

There are "studs" in all the non reinforced walls, particularly at the corners and midpoints. Reace installed my flip up tables on 2 of my non reinforced walls by hitting these studs.
I installed one my self on the nightstand wall and found the studs inside the wall. My bath wall was factory reinforced.

Reinforced walls
Hi everyone,
I stand corrected on needing to reinforce the walls when you use the flip up counters. I was going by my extensive notes I've been jotting down since I first joined this forum. I'm not going to be able to find the original comments on it as it would take too long to wade through all the matches that would come up with a search, I'm sure.
Here's what I got from Sarah when I asked her about that, as well as other things (which will be added to my post about What I Learned at the Factory):
"We do not need to reinforce the walls for counter extensions. They will be installed on a stud for extra support"

I think I know the comments you are referring to and those people happened to be sending me pms and I told them by pm that they did not need reinforced walls there. There are a few people who have had those walls reinforced to put something else there. But if looking at budget, you can save yourself a couple of hundred there.

Mitzi,
What's with the spec for an 18" table?

Hi Greg
We plan to use it as a lounge/coffee table instead of the large table provided by Escape. Sarah writes that they will not replace the large table but can add the 18" table for $175.00.
We are copying the Toto Lounge shown in this link:
TotoLounge completed with a cushion. | Follow Toto
We cannot see ever wanting the large table. We mostly cook and eat outside especially if we have guests.

Hi Jim & Greg
I'm sorry the link I posted does not accurately depict what we have in mind. This one is more detailed if you scroll through the photos:

Thanks for the info. The pictures in the link are helpful but it's hard to get a sense of dimensions. Is your 18" table replacing the standard U-dinette table or is it in addition as in the piece of plywood filler Toto is using to fill out the lounge? Does that make sense?
We don't want a huge table either, just enough for two, but big enough to make the dinette convert into a comfortable lounge area.
Greg

Mitzi, I'd be really interested in the dimensions of this table. I've been trying to figure out what to do for a table when I want to color in some of my rubber stamped images. I'll need a table for that, but the regular size table won't work when I have it set up as a lounge as it's probably too big. My other option is to use a serving tray that I've used in the past, but it has sides on it, so it's rather a pain to use for coloring when I want my hand/wrist to lay flat.
We don't plan to set the regular up anyway, as the u-shaped will be used primarily as a lounge. Nor are we getting the pedestal base installed. However, the flip up counter tables will be at the wrong angle. Someone had posted about a stand alone table, but when I measured in the dinette area at the factory, that table was too short to be of use. Way too short.
Does it fit on one pedestal? Are you going to install a permanent pedestal or is it removable? I looked at the pictures in the Toto report, but none of them showed the new table removed, so I'm not sure what happens with the pedestal. I'd like it to be removable so when the table isn't being used our feet won't clunk on it.
Thanks!

I spent some time with our U lounge this week with the table out and the filler board and cushion. Had an early glimmering of an idea that I'll make happen this spring/summer. When you push the filler board to the end of the u to use as a footrest, the back stanchion holder becomes available. When you put the filler board against the back cushion, the front stanchion holder is available. I am going to fashion a small rectangular table that will only need one stanchion and can be set into any position. Then when you have the lounge and just want a small but useful cocktail table that can go any direction it can be put in place simply using one stanchion. Probably will size it so if one wants the full bed then the cocktail table and filler board will do the trick. Then the main table can just be left behind.
