I think I know the comments you are referring to and those people happened to be sending me pms and I told them by pm that they did not need reinforced walls there. There are a few people who have had those walls reinforced to put something else there. But if looking at budget, you can save yourself a couple of hundred there.

Mitzi,

What's with the spec for an 18" table?

Hi Greg
We plan to use it as a lounge/coffee table instead of the large table provided by Escape. Sarah writes that they will not replace the large table but can add the 18" table for $175.00.
We are copying the Toto Lounge shown in this link:
TotoLounge completed with a cushion. | Follow Toto

We cannot see ever wanting the large table. We mostly cook and eat outside especially if we have guests.

I just cut 2 pieces of 1x3 for my table- save yourself some $$, the stock table in the "U" is already small.....

Hi Jim & Greg

I'm sorry the link I posted does not accurately depict what we have in mind. This one is more detailed if you scroll through the photos:

Thanks for the info. The pictures in the link are helpful but it's hard to get a sense of dimensions. Is your 18" table replacing the standard U-dinette table or is it in addition as in the piece of plywood filler Toto is using to fill out the lounge? Does that make sense?

We don't want a huge table either, just enough for two, but big enough to make the dinette convert into a comfortable lounge area.

Greg

Mitzi, I'd be really interested in the dimensions of this table. I've been trying to figure out what to do for a table when I want to color in some of my rubber stamped images. I'll need a table for that, but the regular size table won't work when I have it set up as a lounge as it's probably too big. My other option is to use a serving tray that I've used in the past, but it has sides on it, so it's rather a pain to use for coloring when I want my hand/wrist to lay flat.

We don't plan to set the regular up anyway, as the u-shaped will be used primarily as a lounge. Nor are we getting the pedestal base installed. However, the flip up counter tables will be at the wrong angle. Someone had posted about a stand alone table, but when I measured in the dinette area at the factory, that table was too short to be of use. Way too short.

Does it fit on one pedestal? Are you going to install a permanent pedestal or is it removable? I looked at the pictures in the Toto report, but none of them showed the new table removed, so I'm not sure what happens with the pedestal. I'd like it to be removable so when the table isn't being used our feet won't clunk on it.

Thanks!

I spent some time with our U lounge this week with the table out and the filler board and cushion. Had an early glimmering of an idea that I'll make happen this spring/summer. When you push the filler board to the end of the u to use as a footrest, the back stanchion holder becomes available. When you put the filler board against the back cushion, the front stanchion holder is available. I am going to fashion a small rectangular table that will only need one stanchion and can be set into any position. Then when you have the lounge and just want a small but useful cocktail table that can go any direction it can be put in place simply using one stanchion. Probably will size it so if one wants the full bed then the cocktail table and filler board will do the trick. Then the main table can just be left behind.
